The Honorbound is a faction located in Zuldazar.

Faction description

A special delegation of the Horde army, focused on disrupting Alliance operations in Kul Tiras.

Background

At Nathanos's command, the Speaker of the Horde gathered resources for the Honorbound in order to lead operations into Kul Tiras.[1] At the Speaker's direction, the Honorbound carried out missions of subterfuge, reconnaissance, assassination, and other focused strikes against the Alliance.[2] Garona Halforcen recruited reinforcements for the war effort.[3]

As apart of their mission, the Honorbound sought to established footholds within Kul Tiras, though the exact order of their formation is unknown.[4] Trade Prince Gallywix, Eitrigg, and the Speaker established the Krazzlefrazz Outpost within the Drustvar[5] Meanwhile, Shadow Hunter Ty'jin, seeking a base within Tiragarde Sound, struck a bargain with First Mate Owings of the Fogsail Freebooters, in which she would allow the Horde the use of Plunder Harbor in exchange for their aid with her coup against Captain Rhenik.[6] Thus when she launched her coup the Honorbound aided the mutineers, enabling the death of Rhenik, where soon after Plunder Harbor was officially made a foothold of the Horde.[7][8]

After the Honorbound established and fortified Warfang Hold in Stormsong Valley, they came under attack by the Kul Tiran forces.[9] The attack forced them to the shore and sunk their ships, leaving the Honorbound forces with nowhere to run and nowhere to tide. However, they were saved by the timely intervention of High Warlord Cromush and the Speaker of the Horde, who manned a cannon against the Kul Tirans on the coast which gave the troops some breathing room.[10] The Speaker then united with Rexxar and Centurion Kaga Warmstone in putting out the flames within the hold and fighting against the Kul Tiran forces within, culminating in the death of Captain Ara.[11][12] With their enemies dead the Speaker sounded the Warhorn of the Hold, which rallied the troops and allowed the Horde to secure Warfang Hold.[13]

With the footholds secured, Nathanos Blightcaller, leader of the Honorbound forces, turned to combating the Alliance, while the Speaker directed them with claiming Swiftwind Post, Wolf's Den, Windfall Cavern, Stonefist Watch, Hillcrest Pasture, Stonetusk Watch, and Mudfisher Cove as Horde outposts.

Seeking the corpse of Marshal M. Valentine, Nathanos directed the Honorbound with sailing towards the Great Sea. As the Speaker searched the sea for Valentine's corpse, the Honorbound came under attack by the Alliance. However, Nathanos and his forces were able to beat back the Alliance and the Speaker returned to the Banshee's Wail with the corpses of Valentine and Derek Proudmoore.[14] Derek's corpse was soon used as bait to lure away Kul Tiran forces from Boralus so that the Speaker and Thomas Zelling could claim the Abyssal Scepter.[15] As they carried this mission, the Honorbound clashed with the Kul Tirans attacking Plunder Harbor. After the Abyssal Scepter was claimed by the Horde, Nathanos used it to destroy the Kul Tiran fleet, securing victory for the Honorbound.[16]

Tides of Vengeance

As part of the renewed war effort the Honorbound launched an assault against the Azerite supply that was in the possession of Kul Tiras and the Alliance at Norwington Estate.[17] After claiming the Azerite, they withdrew from the manor.[18] As the war against the Alliance intensified, the Honorbound under the command of High Warlord Cromush defended Vol'dun, Nazmir, and Zuldazar and struck out against Alliance forces within Drustvar, Tiragarde Sound, and Stormsong Valley.

After receiving word that the Alliance had mounted an attack through Nazmir, the Honorbound joined the Zandalari Empire in battle against their enemies in the region. Following the death of Blademaster Telaamon and the destruction of the Abyssal Scepter, the Honorbound discovered that Telaamon and his forces were a bait to lure them away from Dazar'alor in order to weaken the city's defenses.[19] Realizing that the city was in danger, the combined Zandalari and Horde army rushed back to defend the city.[20]

After being informed that the the Swift Vengeance had been taken by Irontide pirates of the Chandlery Wharf, Nathanos declared they would be sent to search the area for the stolen ship.[21] However, in reality Baine Bloodhoof and Thomas Zelling had rescued the raised Derek Proudmoore from being turned into a weapon for Sylvanas and had set up the pirates to hide their actions from her. Unbeknownst to them, Sylvanas had discovered their actions and called for the leaders of the Horde to gather at Warfang Hold, which Baine suspected was a show of force.[22] The Honorbound served as a guard for the subsequent meeting that ended with Zelling's death and Baine's arrest at Slyvanas's command.[23]

Rise of Azshara

The Honorbound were among the Horde forces that joined the fleet under the command of Nathanos Blightcaller, who used the black blade to guide the Horde fleet and the pursuing Alliance fleet towards Nazjatar where both would be attacked by the naga under Queen Azshara's command after the seas opened.[24] While Captain Holgresh and the Veteran Crews lost their lives as a result, others members of the Honorbound like Captain Dawnsail and Captain Jalazko were discovered alive.[25] It is presumed that other possible survivors rallied to Lor'themar Theron, First Arcanist Thalyssra, and the Unshackled at Newhome.

When the Horde split between Varok Saurfang revolutionaries and the loyalists of Sylvanas Windrunner, Nathanos rallied to Sylvanas's side.[26] However, the Honorbound as an organization stood out from the conflict, which ended with Saurfang's death and Sylvanas's abandonment of the Horde.[27] With Nathanos remaining loyal to the Banshee Queen,[28] the Honorbound became leaderless.

Visions of N'Zoth

In the aftermath of N'Zoth's death and the end of the Fourth War, the Horde and Alliance entered into an armistice with one another, putting the Fourth War on hold indefinitely, if not permanently.[29] The exact status of the Honorbound as result of the armistice is unknown, with it possibly being reassigned or disbanded.
