Brill is a small town under the control of the Forsaken, in the Tirisfal Glades of northern Lordaeron. Upon leaving Deathknell, new Forsaken adventurers will be directed to Brill where they will continue the Forsaken's war against both the Scarlet Crusade and the ever-present Scourge. It is located in the center of Tirisfal, directly north of the Ruins of Capital City.

After the Battle for Lordaeron, not much was left of the town but rubble and ruins. Sometime after the war against the Jailer, the Forsaken regained control of the town and began its reconstruction.

History

Under the control of the Barov family,[1] Brill was once a small town within the human kingdom of Lordaeron. The Agamand family also owned a manor in the town.[2]

Third War

By the time of the Third War in 20 ADP, Brill was one of the earliest towns to become afflicted with the Plague of Undeath, which would eventually cripple the northern lands of Lordaeron. It was her that the necromancer Kel'Thuzad, still a living man, first started his experiments with the plague. The success of the infestation was such that it allowed Kel'Thuzad to convince the Lich King to launch the invasion even before it was planned. The mass graveyard just outside of Brill was made to accommodate the large number of deaths Tirisfal Glades suffered in consequences. The town's Regional Defenders were unable to save the villagers and were eventually pushed out of the town. There, they joined Prince Arthas Menethil during his mission to investigate and uncover the source of the undead infestation.[3]

World of Warcraft

Years after the Scourging of Lordaeron, the town fell under the control of the Forsaken with Magistrate Sevren at its head. The Purple Princess zeppelin, directed by a goblin crew and troll guards, made the transport between Brill and Grom'gol Base Camp in Stranglethorn Vale. According to some Deathguards, Brill once had a blacksmith, but he turned back into a mindless minion of the Scourge.

After the Forsaken of Brill have fended off the Scarlet Crusade's incursions,[4] they retaliated in kind and tested their poisons on Captured Scarlet Zealots within Gallows' End Tavern.[5]

Coleman Farthing, a former employee of the Agamands, asked Horde adventurers to bring the remains of the family to him in Brill so he could get revenge on them for causing his death.[6] The citizens of the settlement asked adventurers to fight the Scourge, corrupted beasts, Rot Hide gnolls, and the Scarlet Crusade.

In the wake of the Cataclysm, Brill's buildings had already been replaced with the new Forsaken architecture seen in Northrend, in addition to a statue of the Banshee Queen.

Battle for Azeroth

The ruins of Brill in Battle for Azeroth.

In the early stages of the Battle for Lordaeron, Brill was completely destroyed by the Alliance in their invasion to retake Lordaeron Keep. Little was left of the town apart from the walls that once surrounded it and some ruins. The Alliance built a camp among the rubble to prepare for the siege.[7] At least some of the citizens survived since Zachariah Post and Velma Warnam could be found in Orgrimmar afterwards.

At some point, the Purple Princess zeppelin was replaced by mage portals as the crew went on strike after not being paid for the last eleven years.[8]

Shadowlands

Shadowlands This section concerns content related to Shadowlands.

Sometime after the death of Zovaal, the Forsaken took to mustering in the ruins of the kingdom of Lordaeron, as they sought to reclaim as much as they could of the Tirisfal Glades. The Forsaken had successfully taken Brill and were in the process of rebuilding it, when Lilian Voss, Calia Menethil, Deathstalker Commander Belmont, Dark Ranger Velonara, and Master Apothecary Faranell, influential figures that had risen to prominence among the Forsaken, plotted their next moves to secure the Ruins of Lordaeron.[9]

Following their success, the Forsaken moved into the reclaimed Ruins of Lordaeron,[10] while continuing their work on Brill.

In the RPG

This once-bustling human city is in Forsaken hands and is their primary settlement outside Undercity. Brill is home to the Gallow's End Tavern, a pleasant if smelly establishment. Adjacent to Brill is an enormous cemetery that holds many dead from the Second War. The Rothide gnolls have been robbing graves recently. Magistrate Sevren, Brill's leader and a surprisingly genial fellow, is trying to stop them.[11]

Notes and trivia

  • It is of interest to note that Brill was shown in two locations in Warcraft III maps: in-game, in the campaign maps, it was located between Andorhal (to its north) and Strahnbrad (to its south), southeast of Capital City of Lordaeron in the Alterac Mountains; and in Lordaeron's map from the game's manual, it appeared directly east of Capital City, northwest of Andorhal and northeast of Lordamere Lake.
    • For World of Warcraft, Brill was again moved, to a location immediately north of the ruins of Lordaeron's Capital City.
