Centaur clans

Clan and tribe appear to be interchangeable terms when referring to centaur groups. Centaur clans are led by khans both in Kalimdor and on the Dragon Isles.

The Marauders and Stonetalon groups may be other unnamed clans or tribes. Conversely, they may be part of one of the aforementioned clans.

Human tribes

Before being united by King Thoradin, nomadic tribes of humans had flourished in the forests and hills of the Eastern Kingdoms for millennia. Despite the threat posed by the forest trolls of neighboring the Amani Empire, the tribes constantly warred with one another for land and power.[5][6] Around 2,800 BDP, in response to increased aggression from the Amani trolls, the Arathi tribe, under the rule of Warlord Thoradin, embarked on a campaign to bring together the human tribes under a single banner. By offering equality and peace to the people they conquered, the Arathi were able to unite the tribes into the Empire of Arathor, the first great human civilization.[7][8][9]

Murlocs live in tribes, each tribe to its own village of usually six to twelve individuals.[11][12] Many murloc tribes exist, and the tribes get along with each other reasonably well.[13] Each tribe has a name that seems indicative of its members’ activities, appearance, or history, such as "Lostfin" or "Bluegill". Multiple tribes in the same area are organized into larger clans, and every so often all tribes in a clan meet to discuss issues of importance.[11][13] However, keeping a large group of murlocs coordinated and in agreement for any significant length of time is difficult.[11] Members of a single tribe are usually similar in appearance.[11]
