Shadowmoon Village is a Horde settlement located in Shadowmoon Valley in Outland. It is defended by Kor'kron guards, the elite guards of Thrall's fortress of Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar, back on Azeroth. Horde players who have reached the level of 70 are able to purchase personal flying mounts at the wyvern stables. Shadowmoon Village also has a flight path and an inn. Several scouts are locked in battle with Infernals on the outside walls. Shadowmoon Village is commanded by Overlord Or'barokh.

History

The village is a (relatively) recent construction, as the orcish Shadowmoon clan traditionally dwelt in their home settlements of Shaz'gul and Anguish Fortress instead. During the genocide of the draenei, this area was a simple grove with a few Shadowmoon pillars.

Two years after the end of the Second War, Teron Gorefiend, Gaz Soulripper and their death knight brethren strode into the village. Ner'zhul was initially refusing any visitors, and the invaders had to kill several guards to finally see the Elder Shaman.[1]

At some point later, Teron Gorefiend did something to the inhabitants of the village. Their spirits were bound here eternally.[2] When the new Horde arrived during the invasion of Outland, they noticed that the place was haunted and started working to destroy them.[3][4]

Speculation

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

It is unknown if the village was empty when the Kor'kron arrived. It is possible that some orcs here are the only uncorrupted members of the Shadowmoon clan left alive. Concept art mentions it as a "Shadowmoon clan orc village".
