The Zandalari army[2] (or the armies of Zandalar)[3] is one of the principal military wings of the armed forces of the Zandalari Empire along with the forces in the Golden Fleet. Historically, the army has been based from Zuldazar, and has been deployed to a great many areas across Azeroth. They notably served in the continents of the Eastern Kingdoms and Pandaria, as part of the war against the Zandalari.
Background
Zandalari Troll Wars
- Main article: Zandalari Troll Wars
Around 11,900 BDP, after the mogu fell during the pandaren revolution, the Zandalari saw an opportunity to finally claim the land that was rightfully theirs. It was Mengazi, descendant of Zulathra, who convinced the others that the Zandalari had to claim Pandaria by force, since the former slaves of the mogu were unlikely to honor the agreement between the mogu and the trolls.
The Zandalari army marched south, imbued with mystic powers and riding enormous dinosaurs, obliterating a pandaren farming village north of Kun-Lai. They then moved on to the Jade Forest, now the heart of the fledgling Pandaren Empire, as panic gripped the pandaren people. The only fighting force the pandaren had, an order of monks sworn to protect the western Serpent's Spine wall, quickly found themselves outnumbered and outmaneuvered by the Zandalari's pterrorwings and bats.
The Zandalari numbers were vast, and their bat riders fought in such a way the pandaren had no counter to, until a young girl named Jiang used the cloud serpent Lo she had been raising to strike at them from the sky. The Zandalari's assault lasted several years, however, after more cloud serpent riders entered the war, they knew that there was little they could do to win by conventional means, so instead Mengazi planned to resurrect the first mogu emperor, Lei Shen. The final battle of the conflict took place at the Tomb of Conquerors, where Lei Shen's body was enshrined. The battle ended when Jiang sacrificed herself to kill Mengazi, causing the Zandalari forces to break ranks and flee back to their homeland of Zandalar in shame.[4]
Mists of pandaria

During the Alliance-Horde war, King Rastakan sent Zul with some of his forces in Pandaria. As the Zandalari Invaders, they sided with the mogu to revive and help Lei Shen on the Isle of Thunder.
Battle for Azeroth
By the time of the Fourth War, the Zandalari army was active in the imperial lands. Under the leadership of the General Jakra'zet, lord of the armies of Zandalar,[3] many troops are deployed across the massive capital city of the Zandalari Empire to defend the numerous settlements in the primal jungle. Following the Zandalari civil war, the Warguard Rakera was promoted to General of the army.
After receiving word that the Alliance had mounted an attack through Nazmir, Rastakhan conferred with Talanji, Nathanos Blightcaller, and Baine Bloodhoof about how to deal with this new threat.[5] They determined that while Rastakhan would defend the city, Talanji herself would lead the armies of Zandalari against the Alliance. To that end, the princess enlisted the Speaker of the Horde with rallying the Zandalari. [6] The Zandalari clashed against the Alliance at the Blood Gate. With the Alliance defeated at the Blood Gate, the combined Zandalari and Horde armies advance to Nazmir.
Divisions
The Zandalari army is made up of numerous subgroups, including:
- Shera Ali'kh; an organization who have served as the assassins for the Zandalar Empire for thousands of years.
- Zandalari Beast Ward; a division dedicated to breeding, supplying and empowering beasts of war for conquest.
- Rastari; a elite military group of the empire and protectors of Dazar'alor.
- Bladeguard; a military force of the empire.
