Ar'gorok was a Horde fortress located on the northwestern part of the Arathi Highlands.

History

Ar'gorok was built by the Horde in order tide the balance of power in Arathi to their favor after the loss of the Undercity and the Alliance newfound influence over the lands of Lordaeron. Constructed over what was once Northfold Manor, Ar'gorok served as the Horde's main base for the Battle for Stromgarde, in which if it fell to the Alliance, the Horde keep would lie in ruins with Vengeful Ghosts of the Horde's dead haunting it.[1] The Horde would then need to gather enough resources to restore the base and continue their bid to conquer Arathi.

Ultimately, with the final Alliance victory over the Arathi Highlands' western reaches, the stronghold was decisively destroyed and abandoned.[2] Ghosts haunt its ruins, angry after their defeat.[3] After the Battle of Go'Shek Farm, Ar'gorok was taken over by the Red Dawn to use as their base of operations. After they were run out of the Highlands following their failed coup of Stromgarde,[4] it is unknown what became of the base, but it was presumably abandoned and destroyed again.

Notes

  • Despite being stated as decisively destroyed and abandoned in Exploring Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms, the base is largely intact when it is occupied by the Red Dawn. While it is possible that the Red Dawn restored some of the buildings to use as a base of operations -- it is odd that they would have kept the orcish architecture given their human supremacist roots.
  • During Plunderstorm, Ar'gorok is fully inhabited by Horde NPCs -- though given the dubious canonical nature of Plunderstorm, this is not an error.
