Brackenwall Village is a small Horde-affiliated outpost in northwest Dustwallow Marsh. It is run and populated mainly by the Stonemaul ogres. Besides a few huts, the village also counts an ogre mound.

History

World of Warcraft This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

After the black dragonflight destroyed Stonemaul Village in the southern part of the Marsh, Overlord Mok'Morokk, Rexxar's successor, led the survivors north[1] to establish Brackenwall as their new home.[2] After Draz'Zilb successfully identified their attackers as the brood of Onyxia, he ensured that Mok'Morokk was informed.[3] However, Mok'Morokk refused to act, content to stay in Brackenwall, where none of the black dragonflight dwelt.[4] In response, Draz'Zilb called upon Horde champions to challenge Mok'Morokk, who ultimately fled into the marsh after being defeated. With Mok'Morokk removed from power, Draz'Zilb declared that the Stonemaul could now appoint a new leader, one who would help them reclaim their old home once and for all.[5]

Theramore Infiltrators spied on Brackenwall and reported their movements to Theramore Isle. At Nazeer Bloodpike's command, the spies were slain to send a message that their presence would not be tolerated.[6] Oddly enough, while Archmage Tervosh confirmed that they had infiltrators keeping tabs on Brackenwall, Private Hendel claimed they were still searching for it.[7]

The Theramore deserter Paval Reethe sought to convince his fellow deserters at Lost Point to raid Brackenwall for supplies. However, as they lacked the numbers, they refused and expelled Reethe from the area.[8] When Brackenwall's supplies went missing, those in the village suspected Reethe of theft. In time, Krog sent Ogron to track him down.[9] While the Horde interrogated Reethe, they were discovered by Lieutenant Caldwell and his men. In the skirmish that followed, Reethe was slain, depriving the Horde of any information he might have had.[10]

The Burning Crusade

Krog feared that Brackenwall might become the next target of the Grimtotem tribe and ordered Horde champions to gather the Grimtotem Battle Plans from Blackhoof Village. From these plans, the Horde learned that Agashem had instructed the Grimtotem to halt the Alliance's advance while keeping Brackenwall in the dark. Krog ultimately remained uncertain of the Grimtotem's intentions toward Brackenwall.[11]

Meanwhile, the blood elf Balandar Brightstar came to reside in the village after his ship, the Dawn Runner, ran aground. After his supplies were reclaimed, Balandar stated that once Ithania recovered, they would depart from Brackenwall.[12]

Cataclysm

At Krog's command, Gim'hila traveled to Booty Bay to acquire new blood to prevent the Stonemaul from being overrun.[13] Krog subsequently welcomed them to Brackenwall.[14]

The spiders in the nearby Darkmist Cavern became a vicious threat to Brackenwall. Although Krog was confident that they were nothing the ogres couldn't handle, he disliked dividing their attention while Theramore's forces lingered nearby. Thus, he called upon Horde champions to destroy the eggs within the cavern and slay their broodqueen.[15][16]

Mists of Pandaria

Mists of Pandaria This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

Just prior to the Attack on Theramore Isle, Warchief Garrosh Hellscream and his army passed through the village and gathered reinforcements.[17]

Throughout the Pandaria campaign, the Stonemaul ogres saw little activity. They sent Or'Dac as their emissary.

In the RPG

Brackenwall represents the only Horde presence in Dustwallow. It is also the home of the Stonemaul ogres, who had maintained a village of their own but were driven out by agents of the black dragonflight. The Stonemaul ogres have remained allied with the Horde since the Third War when the half-ogre Rexxar defeated their leader in combat and took command of the tribe.

Daelin Proudmoore's loyalists harass Brackenwall, but Jaina keeps her own troops reined in. Most of the Horde members here try to trade with Theramore peacefully, but there are a few that organize groups to attack travelers.[19]

As the name implies, it may be located in Brackenwall.
