The Gilneas Brigade is a division of the Gilnean Army and one of the Alliance army acting on the Broken Isles, where they fought against the invading demons and Sylvanas Windrunner's forces during the third invasion of the Burning Legion. Following the Legion's fall, the Gilneas Brigade remained an active force of the kingdom of Gilneas and was mobilized in Drustvar during the events of the Fourth War. Under the command of King Genn Greymane, the brigade is comprised of Gilneans, both human and worgen, though are seen with dwarven aid in Stormheim.
Whether this military force has any connection to Crowley's Gilneas Brigade from the Third War is unclear.
History
Legion
Following High King Varian Wrynn's death during the Battle for Broken Shore, King Genn Greymane held the Horde responsible and was determined to get his vengeance against the Forsaken.[1] As the leader of the Alliance forces on the Broken Isles, King Genn ordered the Brigade to establish Greywatch in Stormheim as their main base of operations to locate the Aegis of Aggramar, one of the Pillars of Creation.[2]
On the Skyfire, the Gilnean forces were supplemented by troops of the 7th Legion and SI:7, as they undertook an official mission by King Anduin Wrynn to escort Alliance champions to Stormheim and aid them in obtaining the Aegis of Aggramar.[3] Unofficially though, after receiving intelligence of Sylvanas Windrunner's intentions to sail for Stormheim,[4] King Greymane and Sky Admiral Rogers tracked the Banshee Queen and attacked her fleet.[5] While their forces managed to board the Forsaken's ships and kill their captains, Sylvanas had already left the ship, and Nathanos Blightcaller led a Horde force to sabotage the Skyfire,[6] causing the gunship to crash in Stormheim. Nevertheless, its crew was able to evacuate before the crash and rallied in the Skyfire Triage Camp, until the survivors were later evacuated to Greywatch.[7]
Across the region, Commander Lorna Crowley and her scouts aided the adventurers in undergoing the various ancient trials necessary to obtain the Aegis of Aggramar. Eventually, the Brigade uncovered that the Forsaken meant to plague Greywatch like they did Gilneas,[8] and sent their forces to destroy the plague caches and the invading Forsaken forces.[9] While King Genn mustered the Alliance fleet in assaulting Dreadwake's Landing, Lorna uncovered that Sylvanas sought the means to create more Val'kyr by subjugating Eyir in Skold-Ashil.[10][11] Although the battle at Greymane's Offensive went poorly and the offensive was repelled, after hearing news of Lorna's intelligence,[12] Genn personally traveled to the vault in Skold-Ashil and prevented Sylvanas from subjugating Eyir.[13]
Following the battle at Greymane's Offensive, the Gilneas Brigade was deployed across the Broken Isles and contested the Warden Towers against the Queensguard, considering their control as vital strategic victories against the Horde.[14] The Silver Enclave was also renamed as the Greyfang Enclave after Dalaran was teleported to the Broken Isles, and became the headquarters of the Alliance in the city with Gilnean guards to protect it. During the Legion Invasions of Val'sharah, it is possible that the Gilnean garrison at Starstalker's Point is overrun by the Legion's forces.
At some point, a felguard disguised as Houndmaster Payne infiltrated Greywatch, until he was exposed by paladins wielding the Truthguard or adventurers using abilities to reveal demons.
Before the Storm
Sometime after the campaign in Stormheim, High King Anduin Wrynn forcefully rebuked King Genn Greymane and Sky Admiral Rogers for taking his assignment much further than he had ordered.[15]
Battle for Azeroth
Following the downfall of the Burning Legion, the Gilneas Brigade continued its military operations during the Fourth War, and notably established a base camp in Drustvar under the command of Marshal Layre. The encampment was later attacked by Horde agents on the order of Nathanos Blightcaller, seeking to drive the brigade out of the region on behalf of the Dark Lady.[16]
In Nazjatar, Captain Razorclaw of the Gilneas Brigade and the 7th Legion troops she led were encountered by Horde champions.[17]

Notes
- King Genn Greymane instructed Steward Dayton to keep the Greywatch Barracks open to any of their allies in Stormheim.[18]
- Notably, the only other race actively working with the Gilneas Brigade are dwarves. This may be a reference to the Gilneas Brigade of Warcraft III, which was led by a dwarven Moutain king and was mostly made up of dwarven riflemen.
- Most members are wearing the same tabard as the Gilneas Liberation Front.
- Fittingly, the Liberation Front's leadership is also part of the Gilneas' Brigade's leadership. This may indicate that the Liberation Front was reformed as the Brigade alongside other elements of the military.
- While Darius Crowley appears on the Skyfire during the Legion's questing experience, he doesn't show up for the events of the Cove of Nashal and Stormheim until the events of the assault on the Broken Shore by the Armies of Legionfall.
- Multiple unused NPCs with <Gilneas Brigade> title can be found for Crowley in the files, alluding to the idea he was going to have a bigger role at one point with the Brigade.
- It is noted when he was saved by the Valarjar, he was being held captive on the Broken Shore.
- Multiple unused NPCs with <Gilneas Brigade> title can be found for Crowley in the files, alluding to the idea he was going to have a bigger role at one point with the Brigade.
- Members Lieutenant Castle, Master Assassin Olric, Deepshadow Assassins, and Graveborn Assassins (the latter being strangely Forsaken) were set to appear in Legion, but were left unused.

Daniel "Boomer" Vorick, Houndmaster Ely as well as the team made of Priestess Liza, Champion Elodie, Tracker Jack, and Ambusher Daggerfang could be members of the Brigade due to their race and location.
