Mechagon City (commonly referred to as the lost city of Mechagon) is an old gnomish city located on a formerly unexplored island in the Great Sea called Mechagon Island.[1][2] The Robodrome is located in the entrance to Mechagon. The city can be entered via a Mechagon City Teleporter in Rustbolt or Stormwind Embassy by both factions.
History
| This section is a lore stub. |
Millenia ago, Keeper Mimiron built a vault on an island, where he placed various titan marvels and technology within. Around 400 years ago, King Mechagon and some of his subjects set out to find this mythical vault, only to never be heard from again. In truth, they had excavated the keeper's fantastical technology, and it was Chief Architect Walton Cogfrenzy who built the underground city, making it his chief achievement and most marvelous creation.[3] As they aged, the gnomes replaced their failing organs with mechanical wonders from the vault, reversing the Old Gods' Curse of Flesh to become the Mechagon mechagnomes.[4]
Mechagon
For many years, the gnome explorer Kervo Cogpipe traveled across Azeroth, obsessively searching for the lost city of Mechagon; he was certain that he would find there the key to immortality.[5]
In Year 33 ADP, after the elderly Kervo Cogpipe eventually crashlanded on the island, King Mechagon ordered his subjects to bring the outsider into Mechagon City. When Kervo woke up, the king brought him on a tour of the city, explaining the history of his people and how they managed to "cure" the Curse of Flesh. When Prince Erazmin urged Kervo to leave the city and warn his people about the Mechoriginator, the latter, however, decided he couldn't leave the city empty-handed and went to the king to inform him of his son's treachery.[5]
Battle for Azeroth
Concurrently with the Fourth War, Mechagon City came under siege by Prince Erazmin's forces within the Rustbolt Resistance, attempting to overthrow his tyrannical father, King Mechagon, who sought to mechanize the entire world. During Operation: Mechagon, with aid from Alliance and Horde adventurers, the resistance was successful in defeating the Arcforged, ultimately reuniting the mechagnome society under his rule.[6] They also destroyed the Mechoriginator to prevent the mad king from reversing the Curse of Flesh across the entirety of Azeroth.[7]
After years of coalescing into a concentrated cesspool, Mechagon's toxic waste had gained malevolent sentience, the ooze Gunker.[8] It was eventually destroyed by the adventurers.
Aiding with the healing of Gelbin Mekkatorque, who had previously been mortally wounded in the Battle of Dazar'alor, a Spark Reactor recovered from King Mechagon's Annihilo-tron 5000 was delivered from Mechagon City to jump-start Gelbin's heart, who at last awakened.[9] Grateful to the prince and his people, the High Tinker his allies teleported into Mechagon City, where they cleared out the last of the Arcforged's loyalist machines.[10] With the city liberated, Prince Erazmin asked Gelbin to lead them; the latter accepted on the condition that Erazmin stands with him as both counselor and friend. Addressing the crowd at the High Tinkertory, Kelsey Steelspark announced the reunification of Gnomeregan and Mechagon, and proclaimed Gelbin as the new king of an undivided gnomekind.[11][12]

Considering Mechagon is the location of one of Mimiron's workshops, it could have been one of the lost titan cities like Uldaz. A titanic facility could also explain the presence of troggs on Mechagon Island and nearby Kul Tiras.
