Westguard Keep
An overview of Westguard Keep.

Westguard Keep is situated atop the Howling Fjord cliffs on its western side. It has a joint human and dwarven population similar to Valgarde. In the center of the keep is a dwarven statue.

During the war against the Lich King, the keep was the doorway to Northrend by air. At some point, they sent a shipment of ammo to Wintergarde Keep by the way of flying machines, but they were intercepted by frost wyrms of the Scourge.[1] The keep also lent some of them to the Explorers' League at Steel Gate.[2] The Lady Lug, a commandeered goblin zeppelin, was also anchored there.

During the trial of Garrosh Hellscream on Pandaria, the keep was attacked by the True Horde in order to free and recruit the goblin Harrowmeiser and take the Lady Lug.[3]

Years later, following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard visited the keep, but the local commander had little to report, except for the vrykul that were keeping to themselves, and the tuskarr who were supplying the keep with fresh fish.[4]

Speculation

Questionmark-medium.png
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.
  • Since Valgarde was originally meant to be Arthas' original landing zone in Northrend, it is possible that Westguard Keep was meant to be Muradin Bronzebeard's base in Warcraft III. It is also possible that Muradin's base was Baelgun's Excavation Site instead, considering Baelgun was one of his officers.
  • The statue in the center of the keep might represent Muradin himself.
