The Incursion is the first Alliance base set up by the night elves, though unintended, in the Krasarang Wilds. It is directly north of the Anglers Wharf and is described as a shimmering purple soap bubble from a distance due to the purple barrier surrounding it.[1]

Unfortunately, its location is that of an arcanic oubliette, or magic trap, which taps the health of those trapped inside to keep it active; only when the prisoners are completely drained of life will it deactivate. The Darnassus portal remained active, but was trapped within an arcanic oubliette of its own. So while the expedition was able to warn the other side not to send anyone through, and receive supplies directly from home, they were now stuck on the wrong side of a one-way portal.

By 40 ADP, all of the Alliance had been rescued and the portal had been repaired, allowing people to come and go as they pleased.[1]

History

Mists of Pandaria

Mists of Pandaria This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

When the night elves came across information predating Queen Azshara's rule about the Pools of Youth, with coordinates pointed to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Lorekeeper Vaeldrin gained the reluctant permission of High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind for an expedition and set up a portal from Darnassus to the Vale.

However, the Vale was the capital and seat of power of the ancient mogu empire. In order to prevent a direct assault on the Vale, the mogu magisters of Emperor Dojan II[2] set up arcanic oubliettes, or magic traps, inside what were named the Dungeons of Dojani in Krasarang Wilds, for any foolish enough to open a portal directly to the Vale. Thus when the expedition's mage opened a portal, it was automatically redirected to one of these arcanic oubliettes inside a Dungeon of Dojani. Although the dungeon itself is fortunately in ruins, the arcanic oubliettes tap the health of those trapped inside to keep the trap active; only when the prisoners are completely drained of life will it deactivate.

The portal itself from Darnassus remained active, but was trapped inside an arcanic oubliette of its own. Thus while the expedition was able to warn the other side to not send anyone else through and are able to receive supplies directly from home, they were stuck on the wrong side of a one-way portal. Arcanic oubliettes were apparently also designed to be lethal to any mages that enter them, but luckily the young Highborne Magister Xintar survived, though drained and fatigued.

Luckily, Vaeldrin was able to contact a nearby Alliance adventurer who was just passing through, and destroyed the immediate oubliettes to free them.

Exploring Azeroth

Following the awakening of the Dragon Isles, Chen Stormstout, Li Li Stormstout, and Catelyn the Blade visited the Incursion after Turtle Beach. Li Li was quick to describe it as looking like a shimmering purple bubble from a distance, but that all of the Alliance forces had been rescued. It was also noted that the portal to Darnassus had been repaired, allowing the night elves to come and go as they pleased rather than taking the long overseas route, as they had been a source of aid in the healing of Pandaria after the war.[1]

Notes

  • Li Li notes in Exploring Azeroth: Pandaria that the portal to Darnassus has been repaired and that people can come and go as they please now.[1] However, Darnassus was destroyed during the Burning of Teldrassil, so a portal to it would be of little use. This is likely an oversight.
