Wintergarde Keep is the main Alliance base in Dragonblight, built on high ground, and serving as the headquarters for the 7th Legion. The fortress is under siege by the Scourge forces that had taken the surrounding village, while Naxxramas defiantly hovers in the skies outside of the keep. The keep is well-protected behind strong walls and cannon towers. It is made up of barracks and an arcane sanctum.
Background
Wintergarde was built after the Alliance Vanguard arrived in Northrend.[1] Upon arrival, the Alliance forces were welcomed by the people of Wintergarde Village, which was there before the keep.
The keep was enough of a thorn in the Lich King's side that he also parked the most notorious of his necropolises outside of it, Naxxramas, brought in from Stratholme. The villagers were subsequently overrun by the Scourge, and their settlement was turned into the Carrion Fields.[2][3] The Alliance in Wintergarde Keep were unaware of the existence of the old village's subterranean mausoleum.[4]
Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard visited the fortress. Since the Lich King's defeat, the bulk of the 7th Legion forces have moved on to where they were most needed, but a small detachment remained to keep an eye on Dragonblight. They gave them a warm welcome at the keep.[2]

Phasing
Upon completion of the quest Flight of the Wintergarde Defender, the inn will gain several NPCs offering their services, having been airlifted out of the Carrion Fields. Additionally, a Wanted poster offering quests will also appear.
Trivia
- Similar to the Vault of Lights in the Exodar, Wintergarde Keep has a room of projections showing the bosses who reside in Naxxramas. Commander Eligor Dawnbringer offers information about the various individuals who reside in Kel'Thuzad's black fortress.
- This base is home to the current only known high elf arcane sanctum.
