Feathermoon Stronghold, also known as New Feathermoon,[1] is a kaldorei port located on the Forgotten Coast in Feralas. It was built after the Shattering as a replacement for the original, now destroyed stronghold located on Sardor Isle, which has been renamed the Ruins of Feathermoon. The fortress has a moonwell within and is under the command of General Shandris Feathermoon.

History

Cataclysm

The Sentinels forces within the stronghold.

After the destruction of the former stronghold in 28 ADP, caused by massive flooding during the Cataclysm in Feralas, the Ruins of Feathermoon fell under the control of the Hatecrest naga. Overwhelmed by their numbers, the Sentinels fell back to the mainland, where General Shandris Feathermoon had the new one built on the Forgotten Coast.[1] From there, the general amassed an even greater army, and eventually took commanded of the war effort for all of Kalimdor.[2] The Alliance adventurers eventually came to help crush the Hatecrest offense,[3] as well as their leader General Skessesh.[4]

In order to stand against all threats, Handler Jesana and Handler Tessina worked with heroes to rally various forest creatures, such as the wisps to help with some new construction and repairs.[5] They also rallied the hippogryphs to train a squadron of hippogryph riders able to protect the stronghold from any opposing force.[6] The Sentinels were eventually reinforced with treants,[7] faerie dragons,[8], and mountain giants.[9]

At the time, the most dire and organized threat to the settlement were the Gordok ogres of Dire Maul,[10] until the Alliance adventurer killed King Gordok to halt their invasion without conflict.[11]

Upon discovering that the Gordunni ogres were supplied with magical orbs by Cho'gall and the Twilight's Hammer,[12] the worgen Silvia rallied the Sentinels from Feathermoon Stronghold to attack Dire Maul. Under the command of General Feathermoon, the night elf army successfully drove the cultists out of the ruins, preventing them from acquiring Highborne magical artifacts.[13]

Following the Destruction of Theramore in 30 ADP, the Horde set up a naval blockade around Kalimdor, cutting off Feathermoon Stronghold from the Alliance supply line.[14] According to spies' reports, the Horde believed that the Alliance would focus on liberating the stronghold first, as they saw its conquest as a symbolic victory rather than a military one.[15] When the Alliance fleet traveled to Durotar, preparing their assault on Orgrimmar, Warchief Garrosh Hellscream was forced to end the blockade and pull back his ships out of Feralas.[16]

In Year 33 ADP, when the Horde mobilized an army to march on Silithus,[17] General Shandris Feathermoon assembled the Kaldorei Fleet at Feathermoon Stronghold.[18]
