Giant eagles are a type of eagle found in the Storm Peaks of Northrend and in Highmountain of the Broken Isles. The Frostborn and the Highmountain tauren (specifically the Skyhorn tribe) tame these birds as flying mounts. The Skyhorn's chieftain, Lasan Skyhorn, rides his own eagle named Aviash. These eagles can quietly infiltrate enemy cities, as well as pick up and drop enemies from the sky.[1] Hunters who upgrade their Order Hall can use giant eagles to gain additional flight points around the Broken Isles.

There are also Wild Gods and Loa that take the appearance of giant eagles. These include Akil'zon of the Amani tribe, Akil'darah of the Revantusk tribe, and Ohn'ahra of Highmountain who blessed  [Talonclaw].

Giant eagles are large eagles that live on Azeroth and inside the Emerald Dream.[2] Some were trained as mounts by the blood elf dragonhawk units of the island of Quel'Danas.[3] They can be summoned by druids as nature's allies.[4]

The giant eagles are fully described in Appendix Three of Manual of Monsters, however, the validity of the source is disputed.

There are corrupted versions of giant eagles that have been mutated into Corrupted Ones by the Emerald Nightmare in the Emerald Dream.[2] This would later be canonized in the Emerald Nightmare raid in Legion.
