The Gilneas Brigade, commanded by Torq Ironblast, was a detachment of troops within the Human Expedition led by Lady Jaina Proudmoore in Kalimdor. The Brigade was sent by Lord Darius Crowley, a Gilnean noble and dissident, whose lands were split by the Greymane Wall. Consequently, he sent the Brigade in an act of defiance against King Genn Greymane before the Northgate Rebellion.[1]
In Cry of the Warsong of the Invasion of Kalimdor campaign, the Gilneas Brigade set up an encampment to guard the passage to the Stonetalon Mountains. They later came under attack from Grommash Hellscream and the Warsong clan, and in response, the Brigade struck back against the rest of the Horde. It appears that their ranks were almost entirely made up of dwarven riflemen and mortar operators.
They're assumed to have regrouped with the rest of the Human Expedition when they formed the city-state of Theramore.[2] The Gilneas Brigade became well known for its valiance during the Third War.[3]
