Lion's Landing is a Alliance fortress located on the eastern side of the Krasarang Cove, on the southern coast of the Krasarang Wilds in Pandaria. Besides its port, the military base is made up of a keep, barracks, and a lighthouse used to make that bit of the coast easier to navigate.[1] Just outside its perimeter lies a quarry of unusually tough stone, once used by the mogu to fashion their constructs, and recently used by the Alliance to build its towers.[2] The area phases in upon completion of
[15-35] Lion's Landing, the third quest in a series dealing with Operation: Shieldwall, the Alliance operation in Pandaria.
History
Mists of Pandaria
During the Alliance-Horde war in 30 ADP, as the Alliance fleet approached the continent,[3] High King Varian Wrynn accompanied the Alliance adventurers in rescuing Marshal Troteman and his scouts from a nearby Horde war party. After securing the area, which would serve as the location for the future fortress, they also saved Hilda Hornswaggle and her team from the Horde soldiers. The king of Stormwind then negotiated a deal with the Explorers' League: they would supply Lion's Landing with a stone quarry in exchange for protection of their dig sites. With the territory and resources secured, the heroes were tasked to signal the full might of the Alliance fleet to come, allowing them to dock where the fortress was established using resources from along the coast.[4]
The fortress was placed under the command of High Marshal Twinbraid, whom the High King granted the full might of Stormwind, Ironforge, and Gnomeregan to crush the Dominance Offensive and protect the people of Pandaria.[5]
During the Lion's Landing scenario, the Horde attacked Lion's Landing, dispatching a squad of trained soldiers from the Kor'kron to shatter Alliance pride and defenses in one brutal assault. In order to ensure that the fortress survived long enough for the Alliance forces to expand deeper into Pandaria, the heroes were sent to repel the invaders and kill their commander.
During the Domination Point scenario, the soldiers of Lion's Landing and the 7th Fleet descend upon the nascent base of Domination Point, hoping to nip Warchief Garrosh Hellscream's fortifications in the bud. However, the Horde heroes and their allies were eventually sent to repel the Alliance forces and their commander, allowing the fortification of the fortress to be completed.
When the Horde launched other assaults on the fortress, the Alliance deployed some of their heroes to the battlefield to help rally their defenders until they encountered the Horde adventurers.[6] The Horde also attacked the peasants in order to prevent the Alliance from replenishing their troops and rebuilding their settlement after a battle.[7] On the other hand, Lion's Landing received an heavy air support in the form many gryphon riders,[8] while Dwarven Mortar Team Engineers were dispatched to protect the keep from the Horde demolishers.[9]
Following the Purge of Dalaran, Lady Jaina Proudmoore traveled to Lion's Landing, where she pledged Dalaran and the Kirin Tor to the cause of King Varian and the Alliance.[10]
After Anduin was attacked by Garrosh for breaking the Divine Bell, the wounded prince was transported to Lion's Landing by Fennie Hornswaggle, where he was healed by Velen.[11]
From the Tavern in the Mists, the black dragon Wrathion wanted to test the Horde adventurer's commitment to the Alliance-Horde war, and thus tasked them to kill Alliance soldiers near Lion's Landing to prove that their faction deserved to win the conflict.[12] He later ordered them to kill High Marshal Twinbraid before he could orchestrate the Krasarang counter-offensive.[13]
The Untamed Valley
At some point after the Siege of Orgrimmar, Haohan Mudclaw visited Lion's Landing and accepted a trade of two horses from Agent Malley for a cartload of carrots, which he saw as a great deal he couldn't pass up. Following a conflict between the Alliance and the Dark Shaman, Haohan transported the night elf Lyalia, the draenei Vindicator Maraad, and the defeated orc Mashok in his cart to Lion's Landing.[14]
