Below is a list of every plant within WoW's lore that I have been made aware of.

Setup

Each plant is divided up into six categories.

• Name is self-explanatory. Names in parenthesis accompanying the normal one are names that my RP character, Cannibal, has given them. They are not official but are free to use in your RP.
• Appearances is a list of pictures that the plant has been known to use. If the plant has the same general appearance, I'll limit the pictures to three to save space, but some can come in multiple forms, so I will do my best to showcase all of them.
• Properties is a brief description of what the plant does and its intended use.
• Notes is any additional information revealed in quests or item descriptions, such as physical properties, smells or irrelevant effects.
• Location is where the plant can be found. Some plants are rare world drops and can therefore appear in numerous zones at random, so I simplify this down to just mean "<continent/planet>". If you'd like to find all plants within a zone, the sorting feature doesn't work too well. I suggest using Ctrl+F and searching that way.
• Sources include all the resources I used to gather this information. Items are lootable items found in-game. Quests are specific quests that involve gathering, or mention the mineral. Other includes any other mentions, such as in-game books, published novels or NPCs.

This list is the most complete plant list ever created for WoW. Some plants will appear multiple times, since I have the list by categories. If a plant has multiple properties and uses, it can fit in multiple categories. Please keep in mind, I am one person. I miss things, I get some things wrong, and I'm not omniscient. This is why I've listed sources. Check for yourself if you're wishing to use anything here for roleplay or serious lore discussions.

FAQ

How Do You Choose What to Add?

Anything and everything that has ever had a lore appearance is, or should be, included. This includes items that have appeared in-game and were subsequently removed in a future patch, even if they were active for only a single patch. This does not include items that were removed from testing or beta patches, as they were never applied to live realms. This also means I do not include items from upcoming patches, such as a new expansion's content. That content is always subject to change, and as we saw with Warlords of Draenor, quite a bit of profession material changes between beta testing and live.

How Do You Organize The Categories?

For the more specific categories, the ones that serve very narrow purposes, I try and organize them based on their purpose. I’ll attempt to group all of the magic-enhancing items together and the likely-to-be lesser-used items towards the bottom. For more vague categories, such as the Alchemy one, I’ve attempted to organize them based on availability to the average botanist. Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor locations come first, followed by Pandaria, Northrend, Broken Isles, Zandalar and Kul Tiras, all other Azerothian islands, Outland, the Elemental Plane, Draenor and then Argus. Obviously, excluding Argus, availability and access to these locations can be very situational based on the characters pursuing these, but I was aiming for averages.

Why Do Some Items Have Red Sources?

A lot of the newer items, such as the numerous Artifact Power items in Legion, have not yet been added to Wowpedia. Please keep in mind that the majority of content created on this website is done by a small team of volunteers; none of us are being paid, and there is a lot of work to do. The wonderful PeterWind has been assisting in creating a few of the pages that I've sourced, but in the meantime, please use Wowhead for your sources if the ones here appear in red text.

How Can I Roleplay Knowing These?

You can either say your character did their own research into these items, collected them and studied them on their own, or, I will be progressing and RPing that my character, an elderly orc named Cannibal, has published this guide in book form and is working on selling it to various libraries. You are more than welcome to say your character has purchased this book, I just ask the courtesy of mentioning that Cannibal is the author. :)
