Jaedenar is an area in Felwood that has been completely taken over by the Shadow Council. The site lies on a series of ancient night elf ruins and two druidic barrow dens. It was named in worship of Kil'jaeden.[1]
The Shadow Hold, the Shadow Council's stronghold on Azeroth,[1] and the Shrine of the Deceiver are also located here.

After the Third War in 21 ADP, the ruins fell under the control of the Shadow Council led by Lord Banehollow. The cultists were mainly orcish and Forsaken warlocks, with a contingent of demons including succubi, felhunters, felguards, and satyrs. At the request of Greta Mosshoof, a druidess of the Emerald Circle, the adventurers were tasked to prove themselves by culling the ranks of the Shadow Council in Jaedenar.[2] After they extinguished the protective barriers surrounding Shadow Hold,[3] using purified moonwell waters,[4][5] the heroes were tasked to enter the hold and kill Shadow Lord Fel'dan.[6]
Cataclysm
Following the Cataclysm in 28 ADP, the Shadow Council continued to perpetuate the corruption of Felwood from Jaedenar, where they worked to open the path for their Legion masters to Azeroth. The druids of the Emerald Circle focused their efforts on eradicating all cultists from the area before they could succeed with their twisted goals.[7]
Before they could defeat them, the druids needed to extinguish the protective barriers surrounding Shadow Hold, which were projected from demonic braziers.[8] They tasked adventurers to do so with moonwell waters,[9] but also to gather Crying Violets for their own wards, as the magic of the warlocks and demons within Jaedenar was strong.[10] Without the demonic protective barriers blocking the way, the Emerald Circle druids were finally able to enter the Shadow Hold, which they wished to use as the barrow den it once was, after they had removed all the cultists.[9] Farlus Wildheart later the heroes to eliminate the Shadow Council leaders, including Shadow Lord Fel'dan and Lord Banehollow himself.[11]
Dragonflight
In Year 40 ADP, a contingent of Sentinels disappeared while investigating a resurgence of demonic corruption in Felwood, forcing Maiev Shadowsong and the Watchers to investigate the matter.[12] Upon their arrival to Jaedenar, Maiev informed the Starshade siblings that a priestess of the Moon had been sent here to purify a moonwell from fel corruption, and vowed that they would finish what was started and heal the land.[13] As they cleared the area of demons, purifying the corpses of several satyrs, they soon realized the latters were in fact corrupted sentinels.[14][15] The group later discovered that Lord Hel'nurath was behind the resurgence and ultimately destroyed their forces within the Shadow Hold.[16] Without the dreadlord's influence, the moonwell was purified, and the land began to heal.[17] It is unknown what happened to Lord Banehollow's followers in the ruins, they may have left the area or been eliminated by his rival's forces, in either case their status is not mentioned.
