Doom is a Demonology warlock talent.
Notes
Though the debuff is a curse effect, Doom is not exclusive and will stack with other curses cast by the warlock (such as [Curse of Weakness]).
Background
This ability was used by the Pit Lord unit in Warcraft III. It marks a target unit for the manifestation of a Demon. The afflicted unit will take damage per second until it dies. Upon its death, a great Demon will spawn from its corpse.[1]
Patch changes
- Patch 11.0.0 (2024-07-23): Moved to row 8 (was row 6) and redesigned as a passive effect – When Demonbolt consumes a Demonic Core it inflicts impending doom upon the target, dealing Shadow damage to enemies within 10 yards of its target after 20 seconds. Damage is reduced beyond 8 targets. Consuming a Demonic Core reduces the duration of Doom by 2 seconds.

- Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 6 Demonology talent (was a level 25 Demonology talent).
- Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now available at level 25 (was 30). Damage increased to 175% of spellpower (was 160%), and is dealt after 20 sec (was 30 sec). No longer has a small chance to summon a Doomguard when it kills the target.
- Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Now a level 30 Demonology talent (was a level 26 Demonology ability). Damage is dealt after 30 seconds, up from 20. Now has a 5% chance to summon a Doomguard.
- Patch 7.2.0 (2017-03-28): The damage of Doom is reduced by 15% in PvP.
- Hotfix (2016-09-23): Doom damage increased by 10%.
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Redesigned at level 26 (was 36). Inflicts impending doom upon the target, causing (500% of spell power) Shadow damage after 20 sec. Doom damage generates 1 Soul Shard.
- Old: Inflicts impending doom upon the target, causing (345.6% of Spell power) Shadow damage over 1 min. Doom critical strikes summon a Wild Imp to attack the target.

- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): [Bane of Doom] redesigned as Doom, a level 36 Demonology ability (was a level 20 ability for all warlocks). Inflicts impending doom upon the target, causing Shadow damage over 1 min. When Doom critically strikes, a Wild Imp will be summoned to attack the target.
- Old: Banes the target with impending doom, causing Shadow damage every 15 sec. When Bane of Doom deals damage, it has a 20% chance to summon a Demon guardian. Only one target can have Bane of Doom at a time, only one Bane per Warlock can be active on any one target. Lasts 1 min.

When Bane of Doom deals damage, it has a 20% chance to summon a Demon guardian. Only one target can have Bane of Doom at a time, only one Bane per Warlock can be active on any one target. Lasts 1 min.
- Old: Curses the target with impending doom, causing Shadow damage after 1 min. If the target yields experience or honor when it dies from this damage, a Doomguard will be summoned. Cannot be cast on players.
