Mirkfallon Lake, before the Cataclysm.

Mirkfallon Lake is a lake located within the center of Stonetalon Mountains.[47, 40] It was once host to a wide variety of creatures, including wyverns, slimes, and thunder lizards.

Since the Cataclysm the lake has been taken over by the Bilgewater Cartel, who have constructed the goblin-run Sludgewerks. The goblins have carved out the hill in the center of the lake, replacing it with an oil platform, and pumpjacks surround the area. Several paths cross through this area: Stonetalon Peak and Cliffwalker Post are north, Dagger Pass to the west leads to Battlescar Valley, Webwinder Path is south, and a mountain path to the east leads to Windshear Hold and Windshear Crag. Above the lake is Windshear Heights, the nesting site for the area's remaining wyverns. To the southwest of the lake is an Alliance camp, Mirkfallon Post.

Mirkfallon Lake is located high in the Stonetalon range and is home to the tallest waterfall in Kalimdor. Aside from the breathtaking falls, one could also find the legendary hippogryphs, which migrate here from the cooler north.[1] They roost near the lake in cave complexes high on the slopes.[2]

The indigenous tauren created a camp south of Mirkfallon Lake, built upon ancient ley lines.[3]
