Albon the Watcher, a typical somnowl.

Somnowls are medium to large birds native to the Emerald Dream. They are notable for their ears, brows of varying shapes, tails of varying lengths, and two shapes of antlers; stag prong and crescent. They prefer to nest in high or secluded places. They are tameable as birds of prey. In the Eye of Ysera, the night elf Kiya Featherpaw takes care of the local somnowls, preparing care packages for them.[1]

Druids can shapeshifting into the flight form of a somnowl, while the Druids of the Flame use the altered form of a fire somnowl.

During the war against the Primalists, the guardians of the Dream granted Albon the Watcher the ability to converse with mortals, but also the power to detect the cinderpollen-infected beasts, as the ingestion of cinderpollen would have slowly killed many creatures of the Dream's forest. With the help of the adventurers, the beasts were defeated and the forest was made safer.[2]
