It should come as no surprise that the mist-shrouded lands of Pandaria are host to a wild array of exotic beasts, a rare few of them suitable as mounts.

Notes and trivia

  • The Swift Windsteed's appearance is based off of the qilin (麒麟, qílín), a Chinese mythological creature which somewhat resembles a cross between a horse and a dragon, and which is often referred to as a "Chinese unicorn". The similarly-named quilen in World of Warcraft bear little resemblance to the mythological qilin and are instead based on Chinese guardian lions.
  • No creatures use this model, it is uniquely used by the Swift Windsteed alone.
    • During the Shadowlands alpha, the cloudstriders of Bastion originally used the same model as the Windsteed, but later in development they were changed to a unique model.
  • The Windsteed uses the horse skeleton with the /mountspecial twirl.
