The Shadowtooth clan[4] (also capitalized as ShadowTooth)[1] was the only known dark troll tribe. They inhabited Mount Hyjal until they were wiped out by the Twilight's Hammer cult.[3]

History

There is no evidence that dark trolls have ever formed a proper nation, and it is likely that the race derives from only a single tribe given their estimated low numbers.[2]

The Shadowtooth clan worshipped the Wild Gods of Mount Hyjal as loa, with Agamaggan as the greatest one.[5] During the Battle of Mount Hyjal, the clan aided the night elves, Alliance and Horde against the Burning Legion.[1]

Four years later, the Shadowtooth noticed that Hyjal's nature spirits were disappearing one by one. A Shadowtooth Emissary visiting the Emerald Sanctuary in Felwood enlisted adventurers to seek out the Spirit of Agamaggan and ask him what was happening to his fellow spirits.[5] Agamaggan revealed that the spirits had become delirious due to the Emerald Nightmare and sent the adventurers to draw out and kill the corrupted spirits in order to cleanse them. The adventurers brought the offerings earned from defeating the spirits back to the emissary, who promised to use them to guide the loa back to Mount Hyjal. She also agreed to sell some of her clan's treasures in exchange for more of the same offerings.[6]

As of the Cataclysm, the dark trolls were nowhere to be found on Mount Hyjal. Brann Bronzebeard believed them to have been wiped out by the Twilight's Hammer, but hadn't had a chance to check their caves at the time of writing.[4] As of the Fourth War, the tribe's ambassador and last living member, Speaker Ik'nal, lives in Dazar'alor on Zandalar. She confirms that the Shadowtooth were wiped out by the Twilight's Hammer, and the Zandalari now keep her around as a curiosity and memento of the past.[3]
