Dragonflight This section concerns content related to Dragonflight.

Azuregos remained in charge of the Oculus for several years, conducting research. After the reawakening of the Dragon Isles, he ignored the summons of Kalecgos. Then at one point, hostile arcane memories suddenly appeared all over the Nexus. He fought against them and relocated to a northwestern chamber where soon Kalecgos, Sindragosa's simulacrum, and an adventurer teleported in from the Azure Span. Bitter as ever towards Kalecgos, Sindragosa reprimanded him, and he was told of their plan to locate the remaining blue dragons across the world. Since the memories were formed when Kalecgos had released the essences of Malygos and Sindragosa in the Veiled Ossuary, Azuregos agreed to aid in tracking the other blue dragons under the condition they take care of the arcane memories at the Nexus. He gave the adventurer one of his many staves, and they used it to battle the memories at the entrances to the Nexus.

After the threat of the memories was calmed down,[1] Azuregos created a magical globe to help find the other dragons across Azeroth. He gave it to Kalecgos and resolved to continue investigating the memories. As Kalecgos left, Sindragosa revealed that she knew why he was in seclusion in the Nexus - to find a way to tear barriers of realms in order to bring the one he once loved back to the world of the living. She advised him to instead turn to his draconic brethren who could help him.[2]

After Kalecgos and the adventurer found and reunited the blue dragons, Azuregos was in the Veiled Ossuary where all hell broke loose, so he sent his projection to Kalecgos in the Azure Archives. Kalec sent the recruited dragons and the adventurer to the ossuary to aid Azuregos.

Overview of use / Background

On Draenor, during the rise of the Old Horde, Gul'dan opened a school of necromancy for orcs under the tutelage of Kil'jaeden.[11]

First War necromancers (RotLK mention, check W1)

While under the possession of Sargeras, the corrupt Medivh delved into the forbidden arts of necromancy as well. (from manual; retconned?)

Later, Temples of the Damned were used by the first death knights to study necromancy. (check W2)

After being transformed into the Lich King, Ner'zhul used his necromantic powers to raise the fallen nerubians (or a sentence of undead races?)

By the time of the Third War, Thrall had banned the use of necromancy in the New Horde.[12]

Researching into banned fields of necromancy is expressly forbidden in the Kirin Tor. Necromancy is highly illegal and should be avoided at all costs, it only discussed to have a basic understanding of its use, as any practitioner of necromancy is the enemy of the Kirin Tor.[13] Those who persist are censored, stripped of their power and influence, and banned from the kingdom,[14] as was the case with the archmage Kel'Thuzad who dabbed and turned to necromancy, abandoning the Kirin Tor, eventually giving rise to the Cult of the Damned.

It could be speculated that the Warlords of the Iron Horde chose to use the title warlord as a homage to their leader's past, which earned him the moniker warlord with the iron will. As Grommash didn't become the main leader of the Old Horde in the main universe, the chieftains didn't need to honor him and continued to use their regular title.
