Neutral auctioneer

Does Ratchet really have an auctioneer? I can't find one in Ratchet, and thottbot doesn't seem to map any there. -Jefpearl 00:26, 6 June 2006 (EDT)

No, it doesn't. --Suspchaos 20:08, 12 November 2006 (EST)

Ratchet certainly isn't neutral, either. While guards might enforce neutrality, the town is in a Horde-controlled zone, and Alliance may not initiate PvP until they encounter an already-flagged Horde player. Qii 20:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

RPG description

Not very important in itself : the RPG description of Ratchet mentions many things that don't appear IG.

Too bad, they're the most interesting ones : whorehouses and flying machines.

For whorehouses, I'd like to know if Goblin maidens are really worth 'it'. If not, would that mean that even on Azeroth these (sort-of) shops feature hostesses belonging to many origins? Of course, WoW was designed for teens and children, but not the universe of WoW.

Flying machines? Where? The only airport I can see resides in Dun Morogh, and the only objects that cross the sky are wyverns, gryphons and hippogryphs. Too sad they didn't put at least one or two gyrocopters.--K ) (talk) 15:14, 24 February 2007 (EST)

Warcraft RPG has in it what the designers wanted to put in, but couldn't due to spatial issues. As such, the only airports in the game are in Ironforge ( PvP place; there's a little ramp for the planes ) and Searing Gorge ( probably abandoned due to those wacky cultists! ), and they're only there to look pretty. --Super Bhaal 16:07, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
The RPG description certainly makes Ratchet seem bigger than what's seen in-game. (Omega2010 (talk) 06:06, 11 October 2008 (UTC))

Naming Origin

Ive looked all over and cant find any mention of this, Ratchet is named for the Autobot Medic from Transformers. Conor 14:32, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

And a useful engineering tool in actual reality.--SWM2448 16:40, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Stormwind and Ratchet

"Combined with a close proximity to Orgrimmar and Stormwind (via boat)"

I find that sentence extremely misleading, it makes it sound as if there is a boat directly between Ratchet and Stormwind. I've never actually spent any notable length of time in the human lands, so I apologize for my ignorance, but I was quite confused when I first read that. Swiftgryphon (talk)

Unless there's an unseen boat route from Stormwind Harbor (possible), Ratchet isn't that close to Stormwind. One would still have to travel to Booty Bay, travel north through Stranglethorn, Darkshire, Redridge or Westfall, and finally arrive in Elwynn. (Omega2010 (talk) 06:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC))

City Qualification

Is it really a city? It doesn't have subzones, it's own map and auction house which, mentioned in a patch, are in all cities. And many other things that point in the direction of it being a largish town. Can anyone tell me why it is a city? BobNamataki (talk) 20:08, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Mostly because of Ratchet's description in the RPG. It is unsure whether that part is still canon or not, but ratchet was originally described as a massive sprawling city and heart of the trade coalition on Kalimdor. Either Blizzard didn't concider the town important in-game enough to make it big, or the size was retconned. Ijffdrie (talk) 12:19, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Town/City size doesn't matter in-game, everything has been scaled down, even some to just a building. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 01:16, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Venture Co

FYI Ratchet was described as being owned by the Venture Co in the original RPG book. Am at work right now so no source. Xporc (talk) 10:34, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Reputation split

I'm not sure this is necessary. There is literally nothing to say about the reputation, at the cost of the tremendous time required to update many NPCs and quests Xporc (talk) 13:08, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

It is to be consistent with the planned split of Booty Bay or Gadgetzan but I don't mind not splitting pages. --Ryon21 (talk) 13:32, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
Here's the deal: if someone ever bother to update all links to these cities to properly split between them and their reputations, I'll gladly split the city pages. in the meantime, it's not necessary to keep the splitting template for years. Xporc (talk) 10:58, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
What planned split of Booty Bay and Gadgetzan rep? I don't see anything on their talk pages, or even a split template. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:38, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
That's because I removed the split template from their page Xporc (talk) 21:40, 13 October 2019 (UTC)

Gazlowe

Is it explicitly said in the datamining that after becoming Trade Prince of the Bilgewaters, Gazlowe is no longer leader of Ratchet? --Mordecay (talk) 11:30, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Ratchet is owned by the Steamwheedle, if Gazlowe becomes the leader of the Bilgewater how can he still be leading Ratchet? --Ryon21 (talk) 17:08, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
EZ, Gazlowe leads both! :-D Gazlowe leading the Bilgewaters throughout Beefa is kinda confusing for me, and so is leading / not leading Ratchet. But that´s on Blizzard since they don´t explain things properly :-/ --Mordecay (talk) 19:10, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
He'll still be the NPC leader in Ratchet, whatever happens in lore Xporc (talk) 12:34, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
