- For the lore of the zone, see Scarlet Monastery. For the modern dungeon including the Armory, see Scarlet Halls.
The Scarlet Monastery Armory is part of the Scarlet Monastery complex. The Armory requires 5 people, although 4 can probably down Herod, and is intended for players between level 35 and 37.
History
- Main article: Scarlet Monastery
The monastery was once a proud bastion of Lordaeron's priesthood - a center for learning and enlightenment. With the rise of the undead Scourge during the Third War, the peaceful monastery was converted into a stronghold of the fanatical Scarlet Crusade. The crusaders are intolerant of all non-human races, regardless of alliance or affiliation. They believe that any and all outsiders are potential carriers of the undead plague - and must be destroyed.
Reports indicate that adventurers who enter the monastery are forced to contend with Scarlet Commander Mograine - who commands a large garrison of fanatically devoted warriors. However, the monastery's true master is High Inquisitor Whitemane - a fearsome priestess whose guardians seem difficult, if not impossible, to fell in battle.[1]
Regaining access
The armory (and the three other wings) were removed in Mists of Pandaria and were only available to players on Classic realms. In patch 10.1.7,
[The Scarlet Key] started dropping from the
[Loot-Filled Pumpkin], awarded to players once per day after defeating the Headless Horseman encounter during Hallow's End. The key is not bound and can be traded or sold on the Auction House.
While in possession of the key, head to the Grand Vestibule of the Scarlet Monastery exterior to spot an Old Keyring at [48.3, 56.3]
or [83.9, 23.4]
in Tirisfal Glades coordinates. It starts
[1-80] The Scarlet Key, which unlocks the original instances. Click on the keyring again to toggle on The Scarlet Key buff, which changes the destination of the instance lines in the Vestibule to the original instances.
Geography
The Library, the right-most entrance, consists of three sections: the Huntsman's Cloister, with Scarlet Beastmasters and the boss Houndmaster Loksey; the Gallery of Treasures; and the Athenaeum with the boss Arcanist Doan.

Trivia
- In the Mists of Pandaria beta, most bosses received Adventure Guide icons. However, due to the dungeon's overhaul, they were never used. Since they were re-added, this version of the dungeon is not listed in the Adventure Guide likely due to it being a secret or Blizzard hasn't found time to add it.
