Marrim Snowmane is a dwarf shaman and explorer belonging to an old political and military family of Ironforge.

Biography

Born in Ironforge, Marrim was the youngest of two children to Korogh "Madeyes" Snowmane and his wife Tirana. Her father was a general in Ironforge's army, and both he and her brother, Varsil (better known as "Eagleshot"), were expert hunters. Korogh and Varsil had sworn an oath of vengeance against a former Scarlet Crusader-turned-death knight, Baron Artimus Devaneaux, for the human's attacks on a close family friend, the Stormwind knight Oren Tanis. Marrim had remained in the East during the war with the Lich King, where she discovered a surprising affinity for the elemental forces of nature. Korogh would disappear in Northrend and was believed dead, having not achieved his vengeance; after Artimus was eventually killed by the Forsaken during the Cataclysm, Varsil too disappeared, after deciding to "take a trip" to Outland.

During the Cataclysm, Marrim took up instruction under the aegis of Rocangus Snowhammer, whose father Barildar was a friend of her father's. She joined the Earthen Ring during the war for the Broken Isles, and made her first journey beyond Azeroth when she traveled up to Argus for the campaign's endgame. It was during this campaign that she met a Dark Iron paladin named Embervina Doomlight, who was running with the Silver Hand; while Marrim had been aware that some form of reconciliation between the Dark Iron and the other clans had been underway since the Cataclysm, this was the first she had worked alongside them. During the Fourth War, both served together on the front lines in Kul Tiras and Zandalar, fighting against the Horde and the Black Empire.

Following the conclusion of the campaign, Marrim joined Rocangus in the Shadowlands, allying with Bastion for the conflict. Upon the war's end, Rocangus asked her to meet him outside Ironforge. He shared a vision he had experienced with her, revealing that he planned to return to the Shadowlands for a time, to "properly get th' lay o' th' land" now that the war was over and the anima drought had begun to subside. However, he foresaw the fate that would await her, telling her that she would go with many others to a place where wings would fill the skies. "When th' past becomes th' future, th' present will be unlocked," he said to her, before he departed to return to Oribos. Marrim was left to puzzle over this - as she specialized in elemental powers, not farsight - but chose to trust her mentor's guidance, knowing she would learn its meaning in due time.
