"Sitting in bubbles obviously didn't do us any good. If we are to have a life outside of Suramar, we should be prepared to live outside of Suramar - and to beat the daylights out of anything that bothers us."

Born to a noble family of powerful sorcerers, Telisa Vendross stands out among them as preferring the physical fighting arts than attacking her foes from afar.

Biography

The younger of two children born to Randarel, lord of House Vendross, and his wife Elerina, Telisa was born after Suramar was isolated by Grand Magistrix Elisande, using the power of the Nightwell to encase the city in a shield. She knew no sky without the shield for her entire life, until the final war with the Burning Legion began on the Broken Isles. She and her elder brother, Erdanel, were kept in hiding by Valya Tiren, captain of the Vendross House Guard, when their mother was executed and their father banished by Elisande for his opposition to siding with Gul'dan and the Legion.

The safety of his children, the last living heirs to his bloodline, remained paramount in Randarel's thoughts, particularly as his opposition shifted from Elisande - killed by the "outlanders" who had come to aid them - to Sylvanas Windrunner, the Warchief of the Horde, whom he considered no better. It was after Tiren betrayed them to the Forsaken, resulting in the slaughter of the House Guard, that Telisa decided she had had enough of being sheltered in Suramar. While her brother was content to continue working with the arcanists in the Nighthold, Telisa possessed a surprising strength for so small a frame. Inspired by recent visits to Pandaria, Randarel reached out to find someone to train his daughter in the monk's arts. Who he got was someone he did not expect - a Forsaken named Euphrati Velade, the daughter of a mad Forsaken shadow priest who had fallen in Tirisfal, and had distanced herself from his legacy with the help of the pandaren. Despite his reluctance to place his daughter's fate in the hands of one of Sylvanas' apparent underlings, Randarel and Telisa both warmed to Master Velade when they realized she was not the same as the butchers they had encountered elsewhere.

Master Velade agreed to take Telisa on, warning her not to expect her age and the "supposed experience" that came with it to shelter her; if she wanted to learn to fight in the real world, she would hold nothing back. Telisa accepted the challenge without hesitation.
