A player character (aka PC or toon) in World of Warcraft is an in-game character controlled by you or another person (also known as a player).
Despite having other meanings, the individual words player and character may also refer to a player character. The terms avatar and toon are also commonplace.
In-universe, however, the player character is titled an adventurer, a champion, a hero, or other names drawn from lore.
Creation
Players create a character when first starting to play, and then proceed to play the game as that character.
Subsequent logins present a character selection screen, including the opportunity to create another character. Players having multiple characters might distinguish them as alts and/or mains.
