Chaoyen Greenacre is a farmer from the Wandering Isle who picked up a "few tricks" from the monks there. Years after the outsiders first crashed onto Shen-zin Su, Chaoyen has left to see the world that has drawn his family to it - starting with his ancestors' homeland of Pandaria.

Biography

Chaoyen guards the Dai-Lo fields using the handblades of Yatiri Stormwatcher - doubling as both tools and weapons
Chaoyen arrives at Binan Village in Kun-Lai for the wedding of his daughter Chaiya

Born and raised at the Dai-Lo Farmstead on the Wandering Isle, Chaoyen Greenacre did not have the same spirit of adventure as his neighbors, the siblings Yatiri and Lazhna. Chaoyen and Lazhna were polar opposites, but somehow those opposites attracted, and they became the parents of a daughter, Chaiya. Despite their mutual attraction, however, their differing mindviews - Chaoyen being more contemplative and careful with his words and actions, while Lazhna seemed to be born to fight - were the main reason that they never decided to formally marry. The one thing they agreed on without question was the well-being of their daughter.

Yatiri and Lazhna both left with the strangers from the outside - he to the Alliance, she to the Horde - while Chaoyen remained on the farmstead to look after Chaiya by himself. In addition to working the farms, Chaoyen also developed a talent for the monks' arts, using pointers he had first picked up from Yatiri - particularly when dealing with the pesky virmen in the fields. Chaiya also began to show signs of magical talent, and Chaoyen knew (and worried) that she would ultimately want to leave the Wandering Isle to learn more.

Some time later, following the Fourth War, Lazhna returned to the Wandering Isle for the first time since she left. Chaoyen was greatly concerned for her state of mind, seeing the haunted look in her eyes. Chaiya, however, was interested to hear her stories, having picked up her mother's wanderlust. Lazhna was horrified at the idea - having endured great tragedy during her time beyond - but it was Chaoyen, surprisingly, who convinced her to allow Chaiya to travel first to Stormwind, where she (surprisingly, for her reckless nature) joined the Tushui, and then to Dalaran, where she began to train in the magical arts under the auspices of the goblin archmage Kelty Sparkleblast. Lazhna left again not long after that.

Some time later, word reached him through the Order of the Broken Temple - the monk order from mainland Pandaria that had resettled in the Temple of Five Dawns during the conflict with the Burning Legion - that Chaiya was to be wed to Zhangren Puretide, a Lorewalker from mainland Pandaria. Chaoyen saw that the farmstead would do well enough without him, and finally decided that he too would leave the Wandering Isle and travel to Pandaria, where he gave away the bride at a ceremony in Zhangren's home village in Kun-Lai. Afterwards, he and Lazhna visited Orgrimmar, where the Huojin had settled, before returning to Pandaria - Chaoyen had heard rumors that they grew vegetables the size of houses on the mainland, and wanted to see it for himself...
