Nevasa was one of the Prelates, the elite paladins of the Zandalari Empire. After the death of Rezan, Loa of Kings and patron of the Prelates, Nevasa has (like many Zandalari since) fallen into the orbit of Bwonsamdi, and now serves one of his high priests, Zulimbasha the Collector.

Biography

Nevasa grew up in Zuldazar alongside her friend Valkia, and was in fact trained in the path of the Prelate - the paladins of Zandalar, blessed by Rezan - by Valkia's father, Warlord Zul'kor. When father and daughter elected to follow Zul across the sea during the Cataclysm, Nevasa remained behind in Zuldazar, as she felt the duty of a Prelate was to protect Zandalar, and if that meant standing against the rising ocean waves, then so be it. Like many others, Nevasa dismissed Zul's prophecies as so much hot air, proven by the fact that Zandalar endured the Cataclysm; the capital was indeed damaged, but not catastrophically so. Valkia - later Valkia'jin, a powerful shaman - returned years later, having served in Zul'Aman and Pandaria before finally breaking from Zul and his minions and slaying her father, who followed the mad "prophet" without question. Upon Valkia's return to Zandalar, she was banished to Vol'dun by General Jakra'zet for Zul'kor's murder. At the time, Nevasa had not questioned it - she had no desire to meet the same fate - but as tensions rose in Zuldazar between Zul and King Rastakhan, she began to wonder if Valkia had not in fact acted rightly after all. Like the other Prelates, Nevasa was left to wonder about her future after Rezan was murdered by Zul, his power taken to feed his new "god", G'huun.

Valkia's return to Zandalar and the death of Rezan both occurred just after the Horde opened negotiations with Rastakhan, hoping to bring the Zandalari and their mighty navy into their ranks to fight the Alliance. Like most Zandalari, Nevasa was disgusted by the undead that formed most of the Horde vanguard, and had heard tales of Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner's cruelty and honorless tactics; she hoped that Rastakhan would reject the deal and send the "corpse filth" packing. However, following the Alliance siege of Dazar'alor which ended with the death of Rastakhan, Nevasa (who had served in the city's defense forces during the siege) set aside her feelings and accepted the new arrangement, though she still preferred to work alongside the living members of the Horde - particularly the tauren and the blood elves. Not long after this, Valkia returned from exile, and Nevasa was glad to reconnect with her again.

Both would travel across the sea to Durotar for what they thought would be the great siege of Orgrimmar, the second such attack against the city to depose a corrupt Warchief... a battle that ultimately did not happen, as the contest was decided by an honor duel between High Overlord Saurfang and Sylvanas, ending in the High Overlord's death - and at the same time, his victory. Following the conclusion of the duel and Sylvanas' flight from Orgrimmar, Nevasa returned to Zandalar, wrestling with what she had witnessed, and what her people - her order in particular - had lost. It did not take long for the new supreme Loa of Zandalar to send one of his own to call on her...

Nevasa had met Zulimbasha, one of Bwonsamdi's high priests, during the war - particularly when he fought alongside Valkia during the conflict with the Black Empire, a conflict that ended with the witch doctor's untimely demise. It was his guidance, and his comradeship in the conflict in the Shadowlands, that ultimately led her to embrace the call of Bwonsamdi. It helped that the Other Side, the realm where the spirits of the troll dead would spend their eternity, was accessed via Ardenweald - and so it was with the night fae that they would work in the conflict. Following the defeat of the Jailer, Nevasa returned to Zandalar, where she serves as a sworn protector of the empire - but also remains at Zulimbasha's call, for situations that call for a much larger blade than the silent ones carried by his vulpera assassin, Vilaya, another tie to the fallen Valkia.
