Duskhaven was a town located along the southwestern coast of Gilneas, with Gwen Armstead as its mayor. It was the location that the evacuees from Gilneas City fled to as the worgen overran the capital.
History
Curse of the Worgen
One day before the attack on Gilneas City, Lord Walden reported to King Greymane that Duskhaven had seen its first victim, dispatched in the same manner as the others who fell prey to the Starlight Slasher.[2]
Cataclysm
After the loss of Gilneas City to Alpha Prime and his Wolf Cult, the Gilnean survivors led by King Genn Greymane were evacuated to Duskhaven, while Lord Darius Crowley and his Northgate rebels accepted a suicide mission to attract as many worgen as possible to Light's Dawn Cathedral.[3]
At some point after the evacuation, Gwen Armstead was elected mayor of Duskhaven and began to take care of the organization in the village.
One day later, King Greymane received a report from Prince Liam Greymane that their men had spotted worgen in the woods near Duskhaven, and that Lord Vincent Godfrey wished to eliminate them all. However, the king ordered that they should be captured rather than killed, since they were cursed civilians and not members of the Wolf Cult.[4] According to Godfrey, the experiments of Krennan Aranas on the worgen frightened the citizens and refugees of Duskhaven, since many of them lost friends and family to the beasts.[5] Among those who were captured was the Gilnean adventurer,[6] who later received a double dose of the Royal Alchemist's potion to regain his sanity and humanity.[7] As the potion was not yet fully effective, Krennan tasked them to retrieve alchemical ingredients outside the city, however, they only discovered the body of a murdered Gilnean watchman.[1]
When the Cataclysm's earthquakes opened a passage through the reefs,[8] Forsaken ships managed to pass and docked on the Duskmist Shore as their main initial landing ground to begin the invasion of Gilneas.[9] As the undead troops reached Duskhaven, the alert was triggered by Prince Liam Greymane who led the men to protect the village, while Mayor Gwen Armstead sent the adventurer to support them. On the battlefield, the prince tasked them with eliminating large numbers of enemy soldiers as well as using explosives to destroy their abominations.[10][11] At the same time, King Greymane ordered Krennan to use his remaining potions on all the feral worgen they had captured. Despite Godfrey's opposition, the worgen were freed and led by Genn onto the battlefield, where they massacred the Forsaken and forced them to retreat to form a larger force. Although King Greymane wanted to continue the fight, Liam managed to convince him to leave the battlefield, as his people needed him more than ever in these dark times.[5]
In order to repel the invaders, Mayor Armstead later sent the remaining militia to the shore, while the Allen Farmstead's storm cellar became a staging area for Lord Godfrey to lead the counter-offensive.[12] After the earthquakes swallowed up much of the land near Duskhaven, Prince Liam ordered Mayor Armstead to begin preparations to once again evacuate the refugees to higher ground.[13] Mayor Gwen then tasked the Gilnean adventurer to prevent Grandma Wahl,[14] the Hayward brothers,[15] and Lorna Crowley [16] about the evacuation and to convince them by all means to join them at the town.
When everything was ready, the population of Duskhaven was evacuated to the Greymane Manor,[17] using the horses lent by Lorna to increase the number of carriages available.[18] At the same time, Prince Liam stayed with some of his men to continue the fight against the Forsaken on the remaining coasts, but they were interrupted by earthquakes which destroyed what remained.[5] After everyone arrived at the manor, Queen Mia Greymane guided the refugees and sent the adventurer to the observatory,[19] where the king showed them that Duskhaven had also been destroyed by the Cataclysm.[20]
Following its destruction, the underwater ruins of Duskhaven can be visited on the Gilnean coast.

Trivia
- Duskhaven was described at BlizzCon 2009 as the "starting town" for worgen players in Cataclysm; while players actually start in Gilneas City, their start as actual worgen is indeed in Duskhaven. A looser interpretation is that Duskhaven was the starting town, but Gilneas City was added before it later.
- In early alpha quests, the player character started in a prison of a town called Grimmburg which was under attack from the Horde. As Gwen Armstead was the major of Grimmburg,[21] and with the description of [3] Incomplete Cartography implying the town's fate, it is very likely that Duskhaven was initially concepted as Grimmburg. Warden Blackwell, Krennan Aranas, Huntsman Russell, Gilnean Bloodhounds, Grimmburg Militias, Grimmburg Watchmen, Orc Scouts, and Krugg Worgmaw were present here. Lieutenant Wright was out of the town, on the "frontlines".

An unnamed island pack is tied with items containing the town's name. As such, it is possible that those worgen originally come from Duskhaven.
