Keel Harbor is a small harbor town in central Gilneas, west of Gilneas City.
History
Northgate Rebellion
At the time of the Northgate Rebellion, Keel Harbor had its share of rebel symphatizers, and rebel weapon stashes with hefty amount of incendiary were hidden in the village after the end of the civil war.[1]
Cataclysm
Following the battle for Gilneas City, and the evacuation at Aderic's Repose via the Undertaker's Pass, the Gilnean population was led to Keel Harbor by Lord Darius Crowley.[2] It seemed that all was lost for the Gilneans, until a fleet of night elven ships appeared on the coast. Once again the strangers from across the sea had come to help Genn Greymane and his people.[3] As promised by the priestess of the moon Belysra Starbreeze, the night elves brought ships at Keel Harbor, as well as an offer of sanctuary in their lands. Unfortunately, the Forsaken and their allies of the Horde arrived with an orcish gunship, preventing the transport ships from taking the Gilneans to safety. At the same time, another force of orcish invaders began their assault on Keel Harbor from the Headlands, where the night elf druids were holding them back. One of the glaive throwers carried by the elven ships was thus deployed in the town, and the worgen adventurer used it to repel the Horde forces.[4]
In order to allow the evacuation, Lorna Crowley prepared a plan to destroy the Horde gunship by recovering a hefty amount of incendiary explosives from the rebel weapon stashes in the town. With the worgen adventurer, they used a hippogryph to infiltrate and attack the armored aircraft from the inside, causing it to crash on the Greymane Wall.[1] Once the port was secured, all of the Gilnean survivors boarded the transport ships, and Admiral Nightwind took them to safety at Rut'theran Village in Darnassus.[5] Among them was the royal family, with King Genn Greymane on one of the ship, while Queen Mia and Princess Tess were aboard the Elune's Radiance.[6] Meanwhile, a large amount of soldiers and volunteers remained to form the Gilneas Liberation Front under the leadership of Darius Crowley.
By the time of the first liberation of Gilneas, the 7th Legion led by High Commander Halford Wyrmbane docked the X-2 Pincer at Keel Harbor, and used it as their headquarters during the conflict. On the orders of Forward Commander Onslaught, the Horde adventurer used the 7th Legion Telescope in the Cathedral Quarter to spy on the harbor and learn how the Alliance forces got past the Forsaken fleet.[7]
Following the end of the conflicts between the Alliance and the Horde in the kingdom, Keel Harbor was left abandoned like the other towns.
Dragonflight
By the time of the end of the war against the Primalists on the Dragon Isles, Keel Harbor was under the control of the Scarlet Crusade like the other areas of Gilneas. When the Reclamation of Gilneas began, Keel Harbor was the first settlement to be seized by the Gilneans and the Alliance force of the 7th Legion from the Crusade's scouts. It was here that Princess Tess Greymane brought Calia Menethil and Lilian Voss of the Forsaken to join forces, and where King Genn Greymane gave the command of the liberation to Tess.[8] During their preparations, the harbor town was guarded par Greyguard Elites, while Highlord Leoric Von Zeldig led a battalion of the 7th Legion, ready to assist the Gilnean Army.
Following their victory, the Gilnean and 7th Legion troops left Keel Harbor, while its citizens began returning to tend their homes.
