Emberstone Village is a village along the Northgate River in northeastern Gilneas.
History
Cataclysm
During the Wolf Cult's attack on Gilneas City, the villagers survived most of the ravages of the worgen curse. However, they were not so lucky when the invasion of Gilneas began, and the entire population was captured by the Forsaken who put them to work as slaves in the Emberstone Mine. When King Genn Greymane and his men discovered the situation,[1] they sent the worgen adventurer to help Lorna Crowley. On her orders, they rescued the enslaved citizens who were then eager to help them in any way they could.[2] Among the few that escaped the mine, Marcus explained that the Forsaken treated them with utmost cruelty, and those too weak were worked to death by Brothogg the Slavemaster. He then asked the Gilnean adventurer to help him avenge his wife who died in the mines because of the abomination.[3]
Once the people were freed from the mines, Lorna announced that the town was still occupied by the Forsaken, but since they were cut off from their main force, it was their chance to drive them out. She sent the worgen adventurer to kill their leader Executor Cornell, known for his unbound ruthlessness, a few of their infantries patrolling the area, and also Valnov the Mad, a so-called scientist who carried out inhuman experiments on the villagers too old to work the mines. Once the task was accomplished, the inhabitants regained control of Emberstone Village.[4]
During the battle for Gilneas City, as the villagers were thankful to have Emberstone back, they brought cannons to help the Gilnean Militia led by Prince Liam Greymane against the Forsaken forces in the Military District.[5] After the battle, King Genn Greymane ordered the evacuation of the kingdom and all the villagers found exile at Darnassus in Teldrassil, leaving Emberstone Village abandoned.[6][7]
During the liberation of Gilneas, when the Horde adventurer entered the village to meet up with Deathstalker Commander Belmont and Arthura, the area was scattered with the corpses of the Forsaken previously killed.[8]
Dragonflight
Over a decade later, Emberstone Village returned under the control of the kingdom following the Reclamation of Gilneas. The Forsaken banners and their experimental labs were removed, while the debris of the previous battles was cleaned, leaving only a few barricades. Marcus, Magda Whitewall, and Karen Murray later returned to the village and could be seen cleaning up and finding their belongings in their homes.

In Lord of His Pack, it was established that Lord Vincent Godfrey's lands would be up against the Greymane Wall, and since he was known as an eastern lord;[9] he was likely the lord of Emberstone Village.
