Gwen Armstead was the mayor of the town of Duskhaven in Gilneas. She is involved in several quests throughout the worgen starting experience of Gilneas.

Background

This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

First seen in the Merchant Square of Gilneas City during the Wolf Cult worgen attack, she tried to salvage some supplies. She admitted that she didn't really know how to use her rapier weapon, but figured standing around with it looking menacing would make the worgen go elsewhere. She later relocated to the Military District and Greymane Court during the evacuation.

After the evacuation of Gilneas City, she moved to Duskhaven where she became the mayor. Ultimately, though, even Duskhaven had to be evacuated when the Forsaken began their invasion, and Gwen traveled to Stormglen where she started taking care of the other evacuees and sent the adventurer to deal with the hostile spiders in the area. After the adventurer worked with Darius and cleared the path of Blackwald, Gwen was able to move the refugees through the woods to Tempest's Reach.

Following those events and the mass exodus from Gilneas, she resided at the Howling Oak in the night elf capital of Darnassus, holding down the fort while King Genn Greymane was in Stormwind City. When spoken to, she allowed worgen players to view the cinematic which led to their arrival at Duskhaven.

Gwen was also one of the dozens of past characters encountered by adventurers to assist in killing the elementals at Sethria's Roost.

After the Gilneans reclaimed their home, Gwen relocated to an inn in Greymane Court in Gilneas City.

• In Darnassus she offers the chance for worgen players to see the cutscene that led to them arriving at Duskhaven. Goblin players can see the cutscene that brought them to the Lost Isles by talking to Ace.
• She is one of the NPCs that can fight alongside the player in  [35 Daily] The Protectors of Hyjal, where she seems to have learned to use her sword. She rides a  [Swift Gray Steed] and a  [Armored Snowy Gryphon].
• During the early Cataclysm alpha, Gwen was the mayor of Grimmburg which appears to be an early name for Duskhaven.
