Emberstone Mine
Emberstone Mine is a mine in northeastern Gilneas, it is associated with Emberstone Village located along the Northgate River.
History
Cataclysm
When the invasion of Gilneas began, the citizens of Emberstone Village were captured by the Forsaken who put them to work as slaves in the Emberstone Mine. Among the few that escaped the mine, Marcus explained that the Forsaken Slavedrivers treated them with utmost cruelty, and those too weak were worked to death by the abomination known as Brothogg the Slavemaster.[1] At the same time, Valnov the Mad carried out inhuman experiments on the villagers too old to work the mines.[2]
When King Genn Greymane and his men discovered the situation,[3] they sent the worgen adventurer to help Lorna Crowley. On her orders, they rescued the enslaved citizens who were then eager to help them in any way they could.[4] Marcus also asked the Gilnean adventurer to help him avenge his wife who died in the mines because of Brothogg.[1] Once the people were freed from the mines, Lorna ordered the death of Executor Cornell and Valnov the Mad. After the task was accomplished, the inhabitants regained control of their village.[2][5]
By the time of the liberation of Gilneas, Emberstone Mine was devoid of life following the evacuation of the entire Gilnean population to find exile in Darnassus.[6][7]
Dragonflight
Over a decade later, the Emberstone Mine returned under the control of the kingdom following the Reclamation of Gilneas. The Forsaken banners were removed, but the mine remained empty of presence and activity.
