Frozen Sea

The Frozen Sea in Chronicle.

The Frozen Sea is the large body of water found south of Northrend. The water to the south of Northrend and all the way down until meeting with the Maelstrom is the Frozen Sea.[1] Since it is found in between the continents, the Frozen Sea is a portion of the Great Sea.

According to Muradin Bronzebeard, it's a place to see icebergs from the size of houses to the size of islands floating along, and the strong, biting winds make for choppy waters at the best of times. The tuskarr are the masters of sailing these waters and fishing them. They hunt whales and fish for schools of deep sea monsterbellies, moonglow cuttlefish, and rockfin groupers. He have seen them sail through ice floes that none of our captains would go near without an icebreaker, singing songs to the icebergs as they haul their catch.[2]

Gales from the Frozen Sea reach all the way to Kul Tiras, but they're softened by the time they roll over the mountain range between Stormsong Valley and Tiragarde Sound.[3]

Notes

  • The Frozen Sea is displayed east of Zul'Drak. This is a mistake as lorewise the sea is found south of Northrend instead. The continent's eastern and northern shoreline are occupied by the North Sea.
