The Veiled Sea in Chronicle.

The Veiled Sea is the name of the vast sea that lies to the north and west of Kalimdor. It is the location of the former night elven homeland of Teldrassil, and the group of islands known as the Azuremyst Isles — where the draenei inter-planar vessel named The Exodar crash-landed.

Giant turtles, sea turtles and krakens are known to live in the Veiled Sea.[1]

After the Great Sundering, both, portions of Zoram Strand and Blackfathom Deeps in Ashenvale sunk under the Veiled Sea.[2]

It is named after the fog that was raised by the night elves to shroud Kalimdor from outsiders until the Third War.[3]

Some time after the Cataclysm, a battle between the Wavestrider and the Inevitable occurred away from the coast of Feralas, with the former being destroyed.[4]

Connection with the Forbidding Sea

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

On rare occasions when Azeroth's backside can be seen, such as on the globes in the Halls of Lightning, it is shown that the Veiled Sea connects with the Forbidding Sea which stretches across the eastern shore of the Eastern Kingdoms. There is little (if any) mention of this 'backside sea' in the lore as the Warcraft game development has traditionally concerned Azeroth's front side (the continents surrounding the Great Sea). In theory, the backside sea could be the location of yet undiscovered continents.
