The Lamplighters are Hallowfall Arathi combatants who wield the Sacred Flame and are responsible for charging into darkness, keeping the dawntowers of Hallowfall lit with the Sacred Flame in defense against Beledar's Shadow, safeguarding Arathi civilians, and rescuing those who are lost.[3][4][5] Their creed can be jocularly summarized as "defend the weak, help the troubled, and don't die",[6] and includes helping anyone who needs it, no matter who they are.[7] To fulfill their duty of keeping all of the dawntowers ablaze, Lamplighters travel around Hallowfall on regular patrols,[8] or "Lamplighting routes".[9] They frequently have strong disagreements with the Arathi Army but are free to do as they believe they must. The Lamplighters are few in number, and their willingness to face the darkness in spite of their fears is seen as unusual, but when they arrive, the Arathi's hopes grow brighter.[3]

The War Within
The Lamplighters are led by the Great Kyron[1], who founded the order, and are based out of the Lamplighter Headquarters in Mereldar. They started out as a scouting force that found defensible areas of Hallowfall and laid a foundation for the defense of Mereldar shortly after the Arathi's arrival to Hallowfall.[3] The Lamplighters' numbers now dwindle, with some finding their faith shaken and joining the Order of Night.[8] The Lamplighters who remain faithful are skilled at rooting out Order of Night cultists.[4]
When Hallowfall once again came under threat by the Sureki, a call to arms was issued to those with the strength to wield a weapon, as the Lamplighters and army were stretched thin. What available lamplighters there were answered the call, joining the Flame's Radiance.
Midnight
When Xal'atath and the Devouring Host invaded the Isle of Quel'Danas, the Lamplighters were summoned by the Light to defend the Sunwell, fighting against the forces of the Void as part of the Vanguard of the Light.[10]
