The Worldbreakers are a faction of black dragonkin found in the Smoldering Perch in the Waking Shores. Originally known as the "Warders of the Earth" and "Children of the Earth", they have been converted by the disguised ogre Cygenoth into believing the prophecies of the Twilight's Hammer, hoping to bring about the Hour of Twilight.[1] They are trying to reform Morchok in the Slagmire.

When the red dragonflight heard rumors of a Deathwing cult, Majordomo Selistra sent emissary Ayasanth to clear any misunderstanding with the Worldbreakers.[2] When she asked for an audience with their leader Cygenoth, she was imprisoned to be executed. A small group of Worldbreakers realized what was happening and decided to leave and accepted the help of adventurers. Ingot asked them to kill the dragonkin that had hurt him and went back to find Ayasanth.[3][4] When the adventurer found the key to her cage and freed her, she revealed she had noticed Cygenoth's Draconic being clumsy, so she suspected duplicity in the form an illusion in play. Ayasanth and the adventurer went to confront Cygenoth and expose his lies. With his disguise revealed, the adventurer and Ayasanth killed the ogre. The red dragonspawn feared a new leader would arise but resolved to watch over the Worldbreakers.[5]

According to Ingot, most of the Worldbreakers are simply misguided. After Cygenoth's death, several of his cohorts did continue his ruse. These are Doventhal the Chosen and Vyzos the Prophet, who are also ogres in disguise. Aizir the Inflamed also took leadership of the group. Rather than accept they have been lied to, the Worldbreakers repeatedly keep electing new leaders, only to kill them if the Hour of Twilight is not brought about in a timely manner as promised.[1]

As they continued to follow the misplaced belief that Deathwing himself would return, Weaponmaster Vordak, who once swore loyalty to the Black Prince, stole many weapons crafted in the Obsidian Citadel and gave them to the Worldbreakers. In turn, Talonstalker Kavia ordered for the weapons to be recovered and Vordak eliminated.[6]

Notes

  • The Worldbreakers have a whelp in their ranks known as Scalding. It is unknown where this whelp came from, and whether or not he is actually a whelp or another ogre in disguise, considering he is part of bringing back Morchok. He is the only actual black dragon in the faction, as Doventhal the Chosen is one of the aforementioned disguised ogres. Given that Scalding is a whelp and many of the younger members of the Worldbreakers (and in truth the faction as a whole) are relatively unaware of the full depths of what they're doing, he may simply just think it's a game of some sort.
