Nerubian hulk
Hulks[1] are a monstrously huge bipedal form of nerubian, built like a C'Thrax. They were created during the refining of the ascension process,[2] with many of these monstrous creatures being used as guardians and watchdogs by the Sureki forces within Nerub-ar Palace. Created by Ansurek's evolutionary experimentation, they are guardians of her throne.[3] The monstrous Ulgrax the Devourer stands as the first line of defense against would-be invaders of the palace.[3]
Many of these creations are crazed[4] and those that fail to ascend properly are turned into them.[5] They are kept deep under the City of Threads within a hidden delve known as The Underkeep.[6] Despite this, they are capable of vast intelligence, as Zekvir, the hand of the Harbinger, attempts to stop the efforts of Brann Bronzebeard and the adventurer throughout their pursuits in the delves.[7]
The First Ascended is one of these monstrous hulks; a mocking epitaph bequeathed unto them.[8]
