Follower Dungeons
“Complete dungeons with NPC teammates”
- — In-game UI
Follower Dungeons are a type of dungeon party introduced in patch 10.2.5, accessed from the Dungeon Finder or by speaking with an NPC by the dungeon entrance. Instead of being queued with other players, your party will be filled with up to four NPC followers, depending on your group's initial size. Therefore, queuing into Follower Dungeons is always instant. The system is currently available for Dragonflight normal dungeons, level 10-70. Rewards are the same as they would be in normal difficulty.
A maximum of 50 Follower Dungeons can be started per day per account.
NPCs
The NPCs accompanying the player are members of both the Alliance and Horde from the Exile's Reach starting area. The party is a cross-faction group and includes the same characters regardless of the player's own faction. The instance immediately places the player as the leader (even when that role is not chosen from the UI before queuing).
They are very reactive as to emulate real dungeon gameplay with other players. During the fights, the tank will taunt, the damage dealers will use their bloodlust effects (unless you are able to), the healers will dispel you, and they will use interrupts to stop enemy casting. All of NPCs have PvP trinket equipped to remove loss of control effects.
If you are the group's healer and are out of mana, Captain Garrick will stop and wait for you to regenerate some of your mana before continuing.
Dungeon Assistance
- Dungeon Assistance — [Toggle to stop your follower from leading the way.][Toggle to allow a follower to lead the way.]
Once inside the dungeon, the Dungeon Assistance extra action button offers a toggle option for an NPC to be the leader and run through the instance. When the assistance is off and the player is the leader, NPCs will follow you and engage with mobs only if you attack them first. When the assistance is on, NPCs will progress through the dungeon by themselves, acting as a normal group would.

Patch changes
- Hotfix (2024-02-26): The maximum number of Follower Dungeons that a player can enter in a 24-hour period has been increased to 50 (was 10). The presence of Followers in dungeons no longer decreases the XP earned by the human players.
- Hotfix (2024-01-16): ...we’ve greatly increased the amount of XP you’ll get alongside followers. Throughout the PTR, your XP was reduced by 20% per follower, so if you ran a dungeon with two friends and two followers with you, XP was reduced by 40%. If you went in solo with four followers, XP was reduced by 80%. Now in the live game, each follower causes a 5% XP reduction. Your party of three players and two followers should see a total of 10% reduced XP, and solo players with four followers receive a 20% reduction.
- Patch 10.2.5 (2024-01-16): Added.
Bugs
- Followers in Neltharus will walk over the sleeping Djaradin in the Smoldering Barracks, waking him up.
