The felblood elves[1] (or felbloods)[2][3] are an offshoot of the blood elf race that — like fel orcs before them — have been corrupted by the Burning Legion.

The felblood elves were a group of Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider's most loyal followers, who were rewarded by Kil'jaeden with the gift of being allowed to gorge themselves on demonic blood for days for remaining in Outland, even as many of his blood elves retreated through the Dark Portal.

Among them, Felblood Initiates remained behind at the Throne of Kil'jaeden in the Hellfire Peninsula, where they feasted on siphoned fel energy from Suspended Terrorguards, though many were counted amongst Kael's invading forces on the Isle of Quel'Danas. There, a felblood named Selin Fireheart could be found in the Magisters' Terrace, while a force known as the Shadowsword resided in the Sunwell Plateau — appearing to be responsible for the capturing of M'uru from the secret chamber beneath the Blood Knight headquarters.

In addition to bearing runic tattoos, they have developed various demonic features, such as unnatural skin and hair colors, horns, and what appear to be small, black-feathered wings — as well as cracks and openings in their skin, which reveal green fel energy glowing from within. Their cuspid teeth are prominent and drape idly out of their mouths during speech, giving them a vampire-like appearance. Unlike the Wretched, who lose most of their hair, felblood elves seem to bypass this aspect of corruption.

Notes and trivia

  • The term "felblood" has also been used to describe other fel-corrupted[4] or demonic creatures,[5] as well as the blood of terrorfiends.[6]
  • During the Fall of the Lich King PTR, most of the San'layn stationed within the Crimson Hall of Icecrown Citadel used felblood elf models. They were later changed to undead blood elves with death knight skins and unique Blood Prince models.
  • Their model name and sound files in the game's files is Fel Elf.
  • Valdris Felgorge is a felblood elf demon hunter in Hearthstone. In the March of the Lich King expansion, the fate of the felblood elves and fel-corrupted Wretched is elaborated upon: outcast from blood elf society, these remnants have united under Valdris and, in some cases, become demon hunters themselves.[7]
    • One of the cards in the expansion refers to them as fel'dorei, Fel'dorei Warband.
    • An original felblood elf warlock hero named Zail Starfallen was later added to the game, receiving an updated felblood elf design with short red horns, fel-scars, spikes emerging from his shoulders, and a fully grown pair of black feathered wings. Concept art for the hero was produced with a variety of different hairstyles and armor designs.
  • Illidan Felblood is a skin for Illidan in Heroes of the Storm.
