Vault of the Incarnates

The Vault of the Incarnates is a raid in Dragonflight. It is an ancient Titan vault, which players enter in their pursuit of Raszageth, who is trying to free her three siblings from imprisonment. The Primalists have built a fortress around the vault, which adventurers must fight through before reaching Raszageth.[1]

Getting there

The raid entrance is located at [73.14, 55.60] at the eastern end of Thaldraszus, behind the complex of Tyrhold.

History

Following Raszageth's imprisonment in the Reach, the black and bronze dragonflights worked together with the titanforged to create a prison to hold the other three Primal Incarnates.[2] Twenty-four years later, Neltharion lured Fyrakk into assaulting the Obsidian Citadel and goaded him into attacking Alexstrasza. Once the two dragons were grappling with each other in the air, however, "Alexstrasza" revealed she was actually Malygos in disguise, who pulled Fyrakk through a portal into the Vault of Incarnates. There, as Fyrakk was incapacitated by the disorienting effects of traveling through a portal for the first time, Ysera sent him into an eternal slumber.[3]

After another hundred years of battle, Alexstrasza challenged Vyranoth, her old friend, to single combat. When she emerged victorious, she commanded the green dragonflight to heal Vyranoth's wounds and place her into a deep sleep so that the blue dragonflight could transport her into the Vault. Meanwhile, Iridikron mounted a full-scale assault on the Broodlands. While his Primalist forces laid siege to Valdrakken, Iridikron went directly to the Vault to free Fyrakk. Neltharion met him there, where gouts of magma were pulled into the air and frozen into rock as they unleashed their powers against each other and devastated the land around them. The battle was interrupted by the arrival of Alexstrasza, leading Vyranoth's former followers. Seeing the forces arrayed against him, Iridikron fled.[4]

Decades later, the Dragon Aspects launched an assault on Iridikron's lair, Harrowsdeep. After an intense battle, Neltharion succeeded in subduing him.[5] Several weeks after the last of the Incarnates was imprisoned, the Aspects returned to seal the Vault. Nozdormu sealed the inner gate with temporal enchantments, Malygos placed arcane wards on the outer door, and finally Neltharion buried the vault within the earth.[6]

Twenty thousand years after the War of the Scaleborn, Raszageth was freed from her prison in the Froststone Vault. After Alexstrasza failed to reignite the Mother Oathstone, Raszageth flew the Vault of the Incarnates and broke in to free her brethren.[7] Though she was slain by adventurers, she succeeded in damaging the mechanisms enough for the prison to fail, freeing the other three Incarnates. Khadgar quickly teleported the adventurers to safety before the trio could exact vengeance for Raszageth's demise.[8]

Adventure Guide

The Primalists breached the Titan prison used to hold the Incarnates for millennia. Within, Raszageth performs a foul ritual to unleash her siblings, so together they can purge the world of the Titans' influence. The champions of Azeroth must assault this impregnable fortress and break their defenses to end this threat. While many could fall, defeat condemns all the realms to the Incarnates' reign of fire and blood.

Narrative

The Primalists breached the Titan prison used to hold the Incarnates for millennia. Within, Raszageth performs a foul ritual to unleash her siblings, so together they can purge the world of the Titans' influence. The champions of Azeroth must assault this impregnable fortress and break their defenses to end this threat. While many could fall, defeat condemns all the realms to the Incarnates' reign of fire and blood.

The group of champions arrives at the Outer Seal alongside forces from the Kirion Tor and the dragon flights led by Khadgar and Kalecgos.

Archmage Khadgar says: The Kirin Tor have answered the Dragon Queen's call, Kalecgos. But I wish the other Aspects were here with us.
Kalecgos says: Alexstrasza is still recovering from her last encounter with Raszageth. Nozdormu feels the weight of destiny pressing down upon him.
Kalecgos says: It falls to us to take back this prison from the Primalists and ensure the other Incarnates are not freed.
Archmage Khadgar says: The Primalists have used their elemental magic to breach the outer titan seal!
Archmage Khadgar says: Then we shall not fail, my friend.
Archmage Khadgar says: Who knows? This battle may inspire a tale that you can share with your own clutch one day.
Archmage Khadgar says: Kalecgos, do you know where the other Incarnates are imprisoned?
Kalecgos yells: Within the core of the mountain. Neltharion himself shaped the earth around the vault to protect it.
Kalecgos yells: We must break their lines and stop Raszageth before she can free them!

Talking to Khadgar he says.

The Aspects have offered the support of the finest drakes from each dragonflight. Speak with each of them to prepare for the battle ahead.

Ready your allies and speak with me when all are ready to begin the assault.

Once ready the champions mount dragons and start an aerial assault upon the primalists troops on the Primal Bulwark. When the primalists summon Volcanius Khadgar says:

Archmage Khadgar says: The Primalists have summoned a massive fire elemental!
Archmage Khadgar says: Champions, focus your attacks on its center platform. Bring it down!

Eventually Raszageth intervenes and dismounts all the champions from the dragons.

Raszageth yells: The skies are mine to control!
Raszageth yells: Eranog, finish them! The ritual must not be interrupted!
Archmage Khadgar says: Looks like we go the rest of the way on foot.
Kalecgos says: By fang or by talon, Raszageth must be stopped.

The group then makes their way to Eranog.

Eranog, commander of the Primalist forces, is relentless in his pursuit of power. With the Incarnates' release imminent, Eranog summons the whole of his army and will not hesitate to sacrifice his devoted followers to achieve victory.

Eranog says: Was this the best you could muster, Kalecgos?
Eranog says: A band of mewling soft scales following a whelp?
Eranog says: I'll grind your skulls under my heel.

The group then fights Eranog who yells these lines during the fight:

Eranog yells: Burn to cinders!
Eranog yells: I'll reduce you to ash!
Eranog yells: Let us see if you are worthy of my skill.
Eranog yells: Marked for destruction!
Eranog yells: Rally to me!
Eranog yells: Surround our enemies! Leave none alive!
Eranog yells: Undisciplined.
Eranog yells: You followed the wrong commander.
Eranog yells: Your strategy was flawed from the start.

Once Eranog is defeated:

Eranog yells: Broodmother... I've... failed you...
Archmage Khadgar says: Set up a perimeter and tend the wounded! Champions, rally to me.
Archmage Khadgar says: Kalecgos, think we can take to the skies?
Kalecgos says: Doubtful. Raszageth was not boasting. The sky is her domain.
Kalecgos says: We must cut the Primalists off from their power before we engage the Storm-Eater.
Archmage Khadgar says: I expect they won't make it easy for us. Champions, when you're ready.

The group then makes their way to either the Primal Council or Terros next. On their path to the Primal Council the group fight various primalist forces including a group of Qalashi djaradin.

Qalashi Emissary yells: Be on your guard, I do not trust these dragon worshippers.

These masters of the elements are ruthless in their pursuit of power. Embar Firepath is as merciless as the fire she commands. Opalfang wields the might of the earth to crush her enemies. Kadros Icewrath is cold and cruel, while his sibling Dathea Stormlash is as wild and unpredictable as a raging storm.

Once at the Elemental Conclave the councilors summon elementals one after another. Embar Firepath summons Magmas. After Magmas is defeated Kadros Icewrath summons Glacias.

Kadros Icewrath says: Frost does not care who falls into its icy embrace.
Kadros Icewrath says: Your faces will be frozen in horror forever.

After Glacias is defeated Opalfang summons Loamas.

Opalfang says: The earth opens!
Opalfang says: Blood feeds the earth!

After defeating Loamas Dathea Stormlash summons Cyclas.

Dathea Stormlash says: Lightning's caress is capricious.
Dathea Stormlash says: One kiss marks you forever.

Once Cyclas is defeated:

Dathea Stormlash says: No matter.
Kadros Icewrath says: Soon, the Incarnates will be unleashed on a world in need of our rule.

The battle with the Primal Council begins.

Embar Firepath lines during the battle:

Embar Firepath yells: Die, aberration!
Embar Firepath yells: I'll purify you!
When using Slashing Blaze:
Embar Firepath yells: Flaming steel sear your flesh!
When defeated:
Embar Firepath yells: My rage... burns... on....

Opalfang lines during battle:

Opalfang yells: Blood feeds the earth!
Opalfang yells: Pain and stone.
Opalfang yells: Smash!
Opalfang yells: Dust!
When using Earthen Pillar:
Opalfang yells: The earth opens!
When defeated:
Opalfang yells: I... never... break...

Kadros lines during battle:

When using Primal Blizzard:
Kadros Icewrath says: Be wrapped in the blizzard's icy embrace!
When defeated:
Kadros Icewrath says: Cold... so... cold...

Dathea lines during battle:

Dathea Stormlash yells: Lightning! Purge these aberrations!
When using Conductive Mark:
Dathea Stormlash yells: Bask in the power of the storm!
When defeated:
Dathea Stormlash yells: You cannot... quiet... thunder...

Once all the councilors have been defeated Dathea manages to escape.

Kadros Icewrath yells: Dathea... Protect the Storm-Eater.
Dathea Stormlash yells: Kadros! No!
Dathea Stormlash yells: You... you will know my wrath!

The group heads to Galewing Crag where Dathea can be found, fighting air primalists along the way including a powerful air elemental named Thondrozus. Once at the location Dathea can be seen with Raszageth.

Dathea Stormlash says: They killed my brother! My vengeance requires your power!
Raszageth yells: Quiet, whimpering fool! If I didn't have need of you, you'd already be dead.
Raszageth yells: I will grant you a modicum of my strength. It should suffice to deal with these meddlers.
Dathea Stormlash says: It's... it's too much!
Raszageth yells: Indeed. This gift will destroy you. Kill them before it does.
Dathea, Ascended says: I will not fail.

Driven manic by her defeat, Dathea strikes a bargain with Raszageth to attain even greater power. Imbued with a fraction of the Incarnate's strength, Dathea gains control of the wind itself and unleashes its ferocity to tear her enemies apart.

The battle with Dathea, now ascended by Raszageth, begins. Her lines during combat:

Dathea, Ascended yells: Feel my fury!
Dathea, Ascended yells: Nothing can stand against my gale winds!
Dathea, Ascended yells: Rushing gust!
Dathea, Ascended yells: Winds buffet you!
Dathea, Ascended yells: Scatter like leaves in a hurricane!
When Dathea prepares to whip up a violent [Cyclone]!
Dathea, Ascended yells: You cannot outrun a cyclone!
When she is defeated:
Dathea, Ascended yells: The storm... never... breaks...

With Dathea defeated the other path leads to Kurog Grimtotem but the group has to go through two monstrous elementals first. The group heads to the Quarry of Infusion where Terros can be found. Along the way they fight earth primalists and a primal fire elemental dragon named Iskakx. The way to the Elemental Conclave where Kurog is located is blocked but the group can hear him.

Primalist Infuser says: Master, Eranog has fallen. The invaders are headed towards us.
Kurog Grimtotem says: Let them come! My creations will rend their flesh from bone.

Once near the quarry the group fights another primal elemental dragon named Kaurdyth.

Eminent Earthshaper yells: The invaders are here! Work quickly!
Quarry Earthshaper yells: It's too early! You're ensuring our destruction!
Quarry Earthshaper yells: The ritual is incomplete! We're doomed!
Eminent Earthshaper yells: Cowards! The elemental is almost to our plane!
Terros awakens and kills the primalists that were summoning him.
Eminent Earthshaper yells: Be free...

Primalists sought to pull Terros, an unyielding force of destruction, from the elemental plane. However, their ritual was interrupted. Trapped between two worlds, this hulking terror seeks to free himself and obliterate everything in his path.

The battle with Terros begins. He says these lines during combat:

Terros yells: The mountain rises against you!
Terros yells: Crush!
Terros yells: Splinter!
Terros yells: Bedrock cracks!
Terros yells: Break!
Terros yells: Broken!
Terros yells: Fall!
Terros yells: Fracture!
When Terros casts [Resonating Annihilation]!
Terros yells: Ground shatters!
When Terros has targeted someone with [Awakened Earth]!
Terros yells: Earth bends to my will!
When Terros uses [Rock Blast]!
When Terros is defeated.
Terros yells: I... am... broken.

After defeating Terros:

Archmage Khadgar says: If Kurog can manifest creatures this powerful, we should proceed with caution.
Archmage Khadgar says: We'll need to destroy any that remain before we confront him.
Kalecgos says: Just as long as none of them are spiders.

The group heads to Iceskitter Hollow next fighting frost primalists along the way. Once there they kill a group of spiders which awakens Sennarth.

Archmage Khadgar says: This cold chills me to the bone.
Archmage Khadgar says: Hold. We are not alone. Something stalks us.
Kalecgos says: What do you sense?
Archmage Khadgar says: Looks like Kurog has himself an ice spider... and it laid eggs.
Sennarth appears.

Sennarth, Kurog Grimtotem's most vicious creation, is a massive arachnid infused with the unforgiving cold. Her singular purpose is to guard her brood of thousands, awaiting the day they'll hatch and enshroud Azeroth in a web of winter.

The group fights Sennarth following it as it ascendeds through Iceskitter Hollow and defeat her.

Kalecgos says: Good riddance! I wish Alexstrasza were here. This whole den should be cleansed with fire!
Archmage Khadgar says: Another time, my friend. The Grand Summoner awaits.

The way to Kurog is finally open so the group heads to the Elemental Conclave to confront him, fighting primalists forces of all elements along the way.

Once a prized pupil of Magatha Grimtotem, this master of the primal elements is preparing to unleash his most devastating creations. If Kurog is not stopped, his entities of storm, fire, ice, and earth will wreak havoc across the whole of Azeroth.

Kurog Grimtotem yells: You dispatched a few of my playthings, nothing more. Now comes your doom!

The group engages Kurog who says these lines during combat:

Kurog Grimtotem yells: Now you face the master of primal elements!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Ha! There is no element I cannot control!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Hahaha! My power is limitless!
When Kurog Grimtotem summons elementals!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Barely a test of my skill.
When Kurog harnesses the primal stone.
Kurog Grimtotem yells: The mountain trembles!
When Kurog harnesses the primal storm.
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Lightning strike!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Thunder crash!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Sky bows to me!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Dark clouds bring your destruction!
When Kurog harnesses the primal flame.
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Burn!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Incinerate!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Flame submits!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: The world will be consumed by flame!
When Kurog harnesses the primal frost.
Kurog Grimtotem yells: The cold will take you!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Frost blacken your flesh!
Kurog Grimtotem yells: Your bones will freeze and shatter!
When Kurog is defeated.
Kurog Grimtotem yells: I... am... the master...
Archmage Khadgar says: Kurog and his creations will not threaten us again.
Kalecgos says: We cannot afford to relent. Not until we stop Raszageth.

With the primalists forces cleared the way to the Clutchwarren is opened where Broodkeeper Diurna can be found.

Broodkeeper Diurna is the fierce guardian of the Primalist Clutchwarren. She devotes her considerable strength to protect the unhatched and seeks vengeance for the one she lost.

Broodkeeper Diurna says: You are here. Which means, Eranog is dead.
Broodkeeper Diurna says: To you, he was just an obstacle to be cleared.
Broodkeeper Diurna says: To me, he was a son.
Broodkeeper Diurna says: The fate of Azeroth does not matter now.
Broodkeeper Diurna says: Only vengeance for my son.

The group engages Diurna in combat:

Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Death will not spare you my vengeance.
Broodkeeper Diurna says: Only vengeance for my son.
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Feel my wrath!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Let the tempest be unleashed!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Your desecration ends now!
Broodkeeper Diurna says: Your bones will blacken!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: You will burn!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: I release the gale's fury!
When Broodkeeper Diurna casts Greatstaff of the Broodkeeper!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Bring forth my brood!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Lightning, hasten my brood!
When Broodkeeper Diurna calls for Primalist Reinforcements!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Brood, to me!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Chosen, protect your keeper!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Clutch, your broodkeeper calls!
When Broodkeeper Diurna casts Empowered Greatstaff of the Broodkeeper!
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: The storm's ferocity flows through me.
When Broodkeeper Diurna is defeated.
Broodkeeper Diurna yells: Eranog... I will be... with you... soon...
Archmage Khadgar says: The drakes are fleeing!
Kalecgos says: Without Diurna to control them, they have lost the will to fight.
Archmage Khadgar says: Champions, now is the time to strike.

Finally it is time to confront Raszageth and the group heads to the innermost part of the vault where the imprisoned Incarnates can be found with Raszageth about to free them.

Raszageth devoutly believes that dragonkind was meant to be as wild and free as the storm itself. Should she succeed at freeing her fellow Incarnates from their ancient prison, Raszageth and her kin will topple the Aspects and scour the world clean of every trace of the titans' influence.

Raszageth yells: Unworthy mortals! When my kin are unleashed, we will reclaim this world for true dragonkind! The false reign of the Aspects will be ended!

The battle against Raszageth begins:

Raszageth yells: The age of the Incarnates begins!
Raszageth yells: Die, mortals!
Raszageth yells: The elements answer to me!
When raszageth casts Hurrican Wing.
Raszageth yells: These winds peel flesh from bone!
When Raszageth prepares to throw the group off the platform.
Raszageth yells: You think the titans brought order to this world? No!
Raszageth yells: They shackled it! What they could not control, they imprisoned... just like the Aspects did to us!
The group lands on the side platforms instead.
Eventually he group catches Raszageth on the back platform.
Raszageth yells: We will break their chains and restore the glory of dragonkind!
Raszageth yells: But you will not survive to witness this new age.
Raszageth yells: The might of the storm falls upon you!
Raszageth yells: Let devastation spread!
Raszageth yells: Lightning! Touch this altar with your power!
When Raszageth uses Stormsurge.
Raszageth yells: My power surges!
When Raszageth summons storm elementals.
Raszageth yells: Minions of the storm, hear my call!
Raszageth yells: Arise and unleash your power!
The group is pushed back by Raszageth on the main platform again where the final stretch of the battle begins.
Raszageth yells: The Aspects's hold on us is broken! Their prison falls!
Raszageth yells: Every trace of the titans' stain will be purged from this world!
Raszageth yells: Behold the storm that will cleanse the world!

Finally Raszageth is defeated and this cinematic plays out:

The group is teleported to the Seat of the Aspects:

Kalecgos says: We must go to Alexstrasza and Nozdormu and tell them what happened.
Kalecgos says: They stopped the Incarnates once before. I have to believe they'll be able to do so again.
Archmage Khadgar says: Then let us not delay.
Archmage Khadgar says: If there's one thing I've learned from all the battles I've fought, it's that no matter how dark things get, we must never lose hope.

Talking to Khadgar he says.

Chasing Iridikron and the others will be a challenge...

<Khadgar smirks slightly.>

But so was fighting the Legion. I have no doubts the champions of Azeroth will rise to meet the challenge these Incarnates pose,

Talking to Kalecgos he says.

Raszageth was once like a sibling to the Aspects. It pains me what happened here today.

we must be vigilant - the Incarnates will seek vengeance for Raszageth once they have gathered their strength. I fear we have not heard the last of them.
