Nerubian sages,[2][3][4] also known as viziers[5] or nerubian priests,[6] are a type of tall and highly intelligent nerubians. In Azjol-Nerub, they served as advisors, sorcerers, and seers to the spiderlords prior to the War of the Spider.[5] In Azj-Kahet, they commonly appear as alchemists and battlefield spellcasters.
Being derived from the aqir sages, nerubian sages were alchemically re-introduced to serve as spell-casters, wielders of the powers of the Old Gods, and keepers of genetic memory (similar to queens).[2]

Notes
- Amidst the fall of Azjol-Nerub during the War of the Spider, sages released the spider Hadronox in the hopes that it would one day grow to challenge the Scourge.[7]
- The Wrath of the Lich King Bestiary described a more elaborate plotline for the viziers of Azjol-Nerub, namely that they had turned the tables on their former spiderlord masters to take control of the kingdom in the aftermath of the War of the Spider, and furthermore that they were rumored to serve an "unseen emperor" destined to lead them to victory over the Scourge.[5] Neither of these elements were touched on in Wrath of the Lich King, likely having been part of the scrapped Azjol-Nerub questing zone.
- In Warcraft III: Reforged, Nerubian Seers and Webspinners appear as sages.
