Kleia is a kyrian. She is the first character that players encounter in Bastion and plays a major role throughout the zone storyline and the Kyrian Covenant campaign. She was formerly soulbound with an unnamed Kyrian, but lost contact with her when said Soulbind ascended.[1] Long after, she became a soulbind with Pelagos.[2]

Bastion

Kleia was the first person a Maw Walker met when they arrived in the Vestibule of Eternity, in Bastion, after being sent there from Oribos in order to uncover why there were kyrians in the Maw serving the Jailer.[3] She is surprised from their arrival as the way to Oribos had been closed for quite some time. She welcomed the Maw Walker to Bastion, explaining that souls that come to this realm are destined to become kyrians and shows them to Greeter Mnemis who could tell them more.[4] Because of the anima drought that had been plaguing the Shadowlands, the Greeter had been deactivated in order to conserve anima. Kleia tells the Maw Walker to collect some of the anima from nearby centurions, with the help of Sika, in order to active the Greeter.[5] After the Greeter was activated, it ran the Maw Walker through the kyrian introductory program, despite the Maw Walkers attempt to clarify to the Greeter that they are in fact alive. Kleia could be seen in the northeast station where new arrivals are supposed to cleanse the pain of passing through the veil. When the Maw Walker started cleansing themselves in the pool, an image of Tariesh appears, which surprised Kleia.[6] After the Maw Walkers were done with their introduction, they went to Kleia again who had realized that they are no ordinary arrival and asked them about the true reason of their coming to Bastion. While the Maw Walker informs Kleia about the kyrians they saw in the Maw, Kalisthene accompanied by a group of Kyrian Ascended arrived in the area having sensed the reactivation of the Greeter. Kalisthene inquired on why the Greeter was reactivated, stating that they could not afford the anima expenditure, and promptly shuts it down. Kleia informed Kalisthene on the Maw Walker's mission and asked that they be allowed an audience with Kyrestia the Firstborne, the Archon of Bastion. Kalisthene told Kleia that the only way to earn an audience with the Archon is to walk the path and prove worthy of ascension and flied away.[7] Seeing no other way, Kleia decided to guide the Maw Walker through the path, hoping that if the Maw Walker did well the Archon would take notice and grant them the audience they sought. Their first stop was Aspirant's Rest, where Kleia's soulbind, Pelagos, could be found. After arriving there, Kleia is informed by an Aspirant Defender that Pelagos had just started a cleansing ritual by himself.[8] Kleia couldn't help him, since it's forbidden for aspirants to intervene in each other's trials, but the Maw Walker was allowed to save him and bring him back to her.[9]

Giving Kalisthene's words some thought, Kleia told the Maw Walker that they should proceed as if the Maw Walker was an aspirant and so the next step on their journey would be to go to the Aspirant's Crucible.[10] There they met with Forgelite Sophone who welcomed the Maw Walker to the crucible and directed them to their first rite there.[11] Later after the Maw Walker had gained the forgelite's favor, Kleia and Pelagos guided the Maw Walker through combat trials meant to test aspirant's combat capabilities.[12][13] Having exceeded expectations, Sophone allowed the Maw Walker to proceed to the crucible's final rite in the Chamber of First Reflection where Kleia would instruct them.[14] After the Maw Walker passed their last rite, Kalisthene was summoned once more allowing the group to talk to her again and request an audience with the Archon. However, while Kalisthene did reward the Maw Walker with a gift from the Archon, she gave a hollow reply to them about what the Archon had to say about the Mawsworn kyrians.[15] Believing that they had done all they could, Kleia told the Maw Walker to return to Aspirant's Rest.[16]

Back at Aspirant's Rest, Kleia, Pelagos and the Maw Walker encountered Disciple Kosmas. The disciple had come from the Temple of Purity, asking for the aid of any able-minded aspirant, as the disciples there had been stretched thin trying to deal with the increased numbers of aspirants looking for purification.[17] At the temple Kleia was tasked by Eridia to assist Vesiphone, the Paragon of Purity, while the Maw Walker and Pelagos were tasked with helping the disciples.[18] Soon after the Forsworn attacked the temple, Kleia aided in getting people to safety while Kosmas and the Maw Walker followed Eridia who decided to confront Lysonia, the dark kyrian leading the attack.[19] Lysonia was forced to flee after facing off against Eridia, the Maw Walker, and Vesiphone in quick succession, but she left an echo of her deepest held memories behind. Vesiphone then tasked the Maw Walker to bring the echo to the Mnemonic Locus, hoping to find the answers behind the Forsworn attack within Lysonia's memories, and told Kleia to accompany them there.[20]

Kleia and the Maw Walker headed off to the Mnemonic Locus while Pelagos volunteered to go to Hero's Rest to warn the people there about the Forsworn.[21] At the Mnemonic Locus they met Mikanikos, the Forgelite Prime, who told them that the place had been taken over by the Forsworn and that they would have to restore the Locus first if they were going to study Lysonia's memories.[22] After helping Mikanikos restore the Locus they were able to put Lysonia's fragment in it and extract her memories which could then be viewed through soul mirrors.[23] Kleia and Mikanikos stayed behind while the Maw Walker proceeded to look through Lysonia's past until they were interrupted by the corrupted Locus-Keeper Mnemis while watching a crucial memory.[24] Mikanikos, having caught up with the Maw Walker, was able to restore the centurion to its original programming.[25] The Mnemis then told Kleia, Mikanikos, and the Maw Walker that due to the contents of the memory they would only be able to view it at the Vault of the Archon which was locked.[26] After unlocking the vault and accessing the inner chamber they were able to learn that the memory had a signature unique to one of the Paragons and also that the Forsworn were in league with the Maw.[27] Having learned all of this Kleia told the Maw Walker that they had to find a way to go to Elysian Hold, urgently, and inform the Archon of what they had learned before another attack happened. She then told the Maw Walker that she had a plan and to meet her in Hero's Rest.[28]

At Hero's Rest Kleia met with Kalisthene who agreed to summon Polemarch Adrestes, who could present the group to the Archon.[29] Once Adrestes had been summoned, recognizing the severity of the situation, he agreed to escort them to Elysian Hold where the Archon could be found.[30] At Elysian Hold the Paragons had gathered and Kleia, alongside the Maw Walker and Vesiphone were able to convince Kyrestia of the severity of the Forsworn threat. Kyrestia ordered that the Paragons return to their temples and that Adrestes monitor the Wards of Bastion which protect the temples from attacks.[31] Adrestes decided to delegate the task to Kleia, Pelagos, and the Maw Walker, who found out that the Ward of Purity had been disabled which is what allowed the Forsworn to invade in such force at the Temple of Purity. Shortly after they had reactivated the Ward of Purity and confirmed that all the other wards were functioning, Uther showed up and sabotaged the Ward of Courage.[32]

With the ward sabotaged Adrestes ordered the group to go to the Temple of Courage, who had just become vulnerable, and report to Thanikos, the Hand of Courage. On the flight there they witnessed Lysonia inform Helya of the wards destruction who then called on their Maldraxxi allies, from the House of Rituals and House of Constructs, to assault the temple.[33] Kleia subsequently helped with the retaking of Xandria's Vigil.[34]

She informed the Archon when King Anduin arrived to Elysian Hold to seek an audience.[35]
