Thanikos was an Ascended kyrian and the Hand of Courage serving under Xandria, the Paragon of Courage. When the House of Rituals and House of Constructs who had allied with the Forsworn assaulted the Temple of Courage, Thanikos organized the defense of the temple. First, he succesfully led a push to retake Xandria's Vigil. Then alongside a Maw Walker, who had come to the temple trying to warn Thanikos about the attack, he gathered parts for a Centurion Colossus, that Mikanikos was trying to repair, fought off invading Maldraxxi along the way, and helped any survivors he could find. Afterwards he distracted Amarth, The Harvester's forces, again with the help of the Maw Walker, while Mikanikos' colossus was recharging at the Shattered Span. Once activated the colossus was used to clear the sky above the span and Thanikos and the Maw Walker were able to access the Necrotic Wake. Thanikos, unfortunately, fell into a trap set up by Amarth while trying to come to his Paragon's aid and got turned into Thanikos Spinerender, a monstrous boneguard which Xandria and the Maw Walker had to defeat. Xandria then swore revenge on Amarth for what he did to Thanikos.
