Druids of the Talon is a druidic organization affiliated with the Guardians of Hyjal. They used to make their base at the Shrine of Aviana in Mount Hyjal, but after it was destroyed by the Burning Legion they moved to a new shrine at the northern edge of the Dreamgrove.[3][2]
Before all of the druidic orders coalesced into the Cenarion Circle, the Druids of the Talon were responsible for teaching promising young druids the mysteries of flight. With the dissolution of the order, former members teach the skill sparingly.[4] When hibernating in the Emerald Dream, they are referred to as the Sleeping.[5]
History
Third War
During the Third War, the Druids of the Talon were all in the Emerald Dream, hibernating in the Barrow Dens in Winterspring Valley when they were awakened by Malfurion Stormrage with the sound of the Horn of Cenarius. They then joined the Sentinels in their campaign to fight the Burning Legion[6] and notably fought in the Battle for Mount Hyjal.
World of Warcraft
Years later after the Third War, a group of hibernating Druids of the Talon was found in the Ban'ethil Barrow Den on Teldrassil, under the care of Gaerolas Talvethren.[5] Corrupted Gnarlpine furbolgs invaded the barrow and kidnapped them. Athridas Bearmantle worked with an Alliance adventurer on awakening them. To that end, he needed to collect artifacts of wakening and kill Ursal the Mauler.[7][8]
During the Invasion of Outland, Morthis Whisperwing joined the Cenarion Expedition in Zangarmarsh on Outland and trained the druid adventurer as his pupil in the ways of the stormcrow.[4]
Several Druids of the Talon remained active in night elven lands such as Darkshore and Feralas during the Cataclysm.
Their main base of operations is the Shrine of Aviana in Mount Hyjal. They worked on reviving Aviana, fought against the Twilight's Hammer, and aided the Guardians of Hyjal in combating Ragnaros' fire elementals in Hyjal and in the Molten Front in the Firelands.
Warlords of Draenor
During the war in Draenor, Skylord Omnuron, Thisalee Crow, Choluna and some other members traveled to alternate Draenor with the Alliance and Horde. They set up camp in Skysea Ridge in Gorgrond. They have been discovering hundreds of new species.[9] Another group is found in Lunarfall. They spied on the Iron Horde and helped fight them
Legion
Skylord Omnuron managed the forces of the Dreamgrove during the third invasion of the Burning Legion.
The Druids of the Talon and Shrine of Aviana came under attack from the Burning Legion, but this was only a distraction while the Legion attempted to corrupt Goldrinn at the Stormrage Barrow Dens in Moonglade. Thisalee Crow and the Archdruid of the Dreamgrove repelled the attack and then went to save Goldrinn at Aviana's command.[10][11]
The Legion attacked the shrine a second time to steal the Idol of Aviana, during which it was revealed that Skylord Shadegrove was actually a dreadlord named Infazzar the Shade. With the fall of the shrine, the Druids of the Talon regrouped to the Dreamgrove and built a new shrine on its northern border.[12][2]
Battle for Azeroth
During the Fourth War, several members of the Druids of the Talon fought in the War of the Thorns and the Battle for Darkshore.
Dragonflight
After Amirdrassil bloomed on Azeroth, some Druids of the Talon, including Thisalee and Omnuron, moved there and could be found at various spots across the island.
Druids of the Talon accompany the ship Moonlit Rose as it travels between Amirdrassil and Gilneas.

In the RPG
Druids of the talon rare a class of druid. While they did not have as big an impact on the Third War as the druids of the claw, the druids of the talon were a valuable addition to the forces of the night elves and, later, the Alliance. They take as their totem the storm crow, and by extension, ravens, hawks, and other birds of prey. They are not frontline soldiers, as the druids of the claw are; their roles are in a support capacity. Their shapechanging abilities allow them to perform valuable espionage, and their abilities impose a variety of disadvantages on their enemies.[14]
Their organization is known as Druids of the Talon, and are among Aviana's most ardent followers. They transform into birds to gather battlefield intelligence and carry messages.[15]
Notes
- Most of the druids in this group are friendly to Alliance and Horde members, however, those in Feralas are hostile to the Horde, even though they have allowed tauren to join their ranks.
- Many Druids of the Talon seen in Mount Hyjal and Lunarfall can be seen wielding Archon Glaives.
