Senegos was a blue wyrm who was apparently the oldest non-Aspect dragon left alive. He was so old that he does not seem have much time left.[1] He was the leader of the Azurewing, the Azsunan brood of the blue dragonflight, watching over them at the Azurewing Repose. Apparently at peace with his age, Senegos was a calm, wise, and jovial individual. He had little patience for those he considers untrustworthy, but seemed to enjoy the company of mortals.

He and his brood clash with the Withered during the Azsuna storyline, and he aids champions in unlocking Artifact appearances later on.

In the Azure Span storyline, he, Stellagosa, Emmigosa, and the rest of his brood follow Kalecgos' call to the Azure Span. He later died after helping the blue dragonflight to reunite again.

History

Legion

Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

Adventurers first meet Senegos in N [10-45] Journey to the Repose, where they find his granddaughter Stellagosa, along with Archmage Khadgar, laying in a large mana pool that is sustaining him. After temporarily stabilizing his condition, Khadgar asks the blue dragon if he can help find the  [Tidestone of Golganneth]. Senegos strikes a deal that he will help if they help drive back the Withered, mana-starved exiles from Suramar, who are attacking his brood. He conjures an arcane projection to direct the counterattack personally. Senegos begrudgingly agrees to work with the exile Runas the Shamed to take down a shal'dorei prince leading the withered, Ael'Yith.[2] They destroy the prince's mana feeders, allowing more mana from the ley lines to be directed toward Senegos' mana pool, causing the dragon to feel stronger. However, Ael'Yith escapes and leads the withered on one last charge against the Azurewing Repose, riding atop a massive arcane golem called Orbyth. With help from Khadgar and the adventurer, Ael'Yith and his forces are killed and Senegos, now empowered by the leyline's mana, claims that he has never felt better.[3] He then directs them to the Court of Farondis to continue searching for the tidestone. He would also dedicate an entry in his magical tome to Runas, who had attempted to warn him of the attack, but came too late and quietly withered in the nearby cave.

Higher knowledge

Kalecgos and the class champion arrive at the Repose to increase the potency of their artifact. Kalec is grateful to see the elder blue dragon alive and well. Senegos replied he may well not have been if not for the efforts of the adventurer. He believed how to help them by telling the class champion to obtain the  [Heart of Zin-Azshari] alongside of picking up the  [Vainglorious Draught] from Veridis Fallon. Senegos also mentioned to take caution; for Azshara's minions will not relinquish the Heart easily. When the hero returned to the Repose, it was time to delve deep into the Nightmare but starting light. Upon returning, Kalec started channeling the essence obtained from Darkheart Thicket. Unfortunately one is not simply enough he said. Senegos laughs and says that they are just beginning for now the adventurer must delve deeper into the Nightmare itself. He asks them to bring him essences from the Emerald Nightmare, and states that few have returned after journeying so deep into the dark.[4]

Upon returning once again, the three channeled the Corrupted Essences using the Heart and were successful. Senegos could only do so much for the adventurer. If they sought more power, they had to look elsewhere.

Dragonflight

Dragonflight This section concerns content related to Dragonflight.

Kalecgos calls the blue dragonflight to the Azure Span on the Dragon Isles, hoping to restore their disband flight.[5] Senegos leads a group, including Emmigosa and Stellagosa, that arrive just in time to save Kalec from Raszageth.[6] Senegos and the others later traveled to the Azure Archives to witness Kalec reactivating the Azure Oathstone, as he declares their flight renewed.[7]

After Kalecgos and Alexstrasza had decided the time to come to put the essences of Malygos and Sindragosa to rest at the Veiled Ossuary, Senegos and Stellagosa traveled there to clean the place as it had dissolved into a mess.[8] As they traveled through the ossuary, Senegos reflected on how in his youth he had been rebellious and given the duty as gravekeeper as a means to teach him responsibility. He further reflected that it wasn't until the War of the Ancients, that he took it seriously.[9] After the gravestones of the slain blue dragonflights members upon the ossuary were updated, Senegos reflected on how both Malygos and Sindragosa had suffered violent ends. After Kalec and Alexstrasza arrived to put and put the pair to rest, only to cause their memories reanimate.[10][11] Upon seeing them, Senegos revealed that he hadn't this phenomenon, when which blue dragons who meet violent ends occasionally had their lingering arcane energy manifested as memories. The two aspects subsequently departed from the area, leaving the task of dealing with the memories to Senegos and Stellagosa.[12] After the memories were dispelled, the pair returned to Kalec at the Azure Archives, where more of the flight had arrived in their absence.[13]

After Azuregos created a Dragon Locator to help Kalecgos find the missing members of the flight, Senegos personally joined adventures in traveling to Booty Bay to find Zeros, while revealing that Zeros had found himself in debt to Baron Revilgaz. Upon their arrival, the pair discovered Zeros being confronted by the Baron, who warned that if his debt wasn't paid in full, they would balance the scales with Zeros'. Upon noticing the pair, Zeros expressed his shock at their presence, causing Senegos to reveal that they had come to bring him to the Dragon Isles.[14][15] However worried over his debt to the Baron prevented Zeros from joining them, causing Senegos to question why he didn't just eat the Baron to settle the matter. However, Zeros revealed that he didn't like violence, and that he dealt in gold, not blood. Believing that Zeros knew what to do, Senegos left them in the care of adventurers as he left to take a short nap.[16] After Zeros and the adventurer were able to acquire the gold to pay off his debt, the Baron revealed that he owed more due to interest. However before the situation could turn violent, Senegos arrived to scare the Baron and his guards off, a fact that amused him.[17] Thus with the matter dealt with, Senegos and his allies returned to the archives.[18]

The last flight of Senegos.

After the rest of the blue dragonflight arrived at the archives, Senegos remained behind as Azuregos led a team to the ossuary to deal with the memories that had awakened once more. In time, the blue dragonflight working one used the arcane energy within the Azure Archives to break the loop of death that Malygos and Sindragosa had found themselves trapped in. After Malygos and Sindragosa were properly soothed and released from their torment, Senegos and the rest of the blue dragonflight witnessed them departing to the afterlife.[19] In the aftermath, Senegos remarked that his heart was brightened to see everyone reunited, that Malygos and Sindragosa were at peace, and then revealed that the time had come for him to pass on as well, as he held on for long in order to see his kin united and not in disarray. When adventurers objected arguing that they could find a way to save him, he acknowledged that they could find an artifact and noted that he had used several over the years to last as long as he did. in fact how he had. He then pointed out that there was nothing that he needed to be saved from, that it was simply his time. When Stellagosa protested his passing, Senegos declared that a life as his should be celebrated and not mourned. He further declared that Azurewing were hers to lead now, and that as he longed as she carried his lessons close to heart, she would never be far from him. Following this, he ascended to the power nexus at the center of the archives as his body dissipated, leaving only sparks behind.[20]

Sometime later, Stellagosa sent adventures the  [Inherited Wisdom of Senegos] that he had created for them before his passing.

At Azure Archives

Hello, young one.

At the top of the Veiled Ossuary

It's been so long since I've seen these halls...

Gossip I saw your name on one of the gravestones. Most of the blue dragons on there had passed. Who were they?

Those were my family and friends. Many were lost to Neltharion's betrayal. Some, sadly, were lost afterwards.
There was a time where I thought about their faces every day. I must admit in my old age I have forgotten what many of them even looked like...
Ah, do not linger on that sad thought. There will come a time where I shall see them once again.

Gossip Can you tell me more about Malygos?

Of course. The Malygos that you may have heard was the former Aspect of the blue dragons.
His mind was broken when the majority of our flight was slaughtered by Neltharion ten thousand years ago.
Not so long ago, Malygos came to his senses--and promptly sought to destroy all mages within Azeroth, believing they had no right to wield arcane power. Unwilling to change his mind, he was killed. Some time later, young Kalecgos was chosen to replace Malygos as Aspect.
But before the madness, before Neltharion, he was... jovial. Kind. Malygos and Sindragosa had many large gatherings within the Azure Span!
I miss those days of levity, when laughter echoed in the mountains of the Azure Archives.

Trivia

  • Senegos is voiced by David Shaughnessy.
  • One of Senegos' pissed quotes, "I can use my [Frost Breath] more than three times a day, you know!" is a reference to Dungeons and Dragons, where most dragons can only use their breath weapons a limited number of times per day.
  • Senegos' name likely comes from the word "senile", referring to his old age.
  • Senegos' visage form in Dragonflight is a troll. He, and later Emmigosa, are one of the few dragons with this visage. Libergo also uses a troll visage and is also a blue dragon.

Speculation

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

One of the Ancient Stones is named "Caretaker's Notes" at Veiled Ossuary.[21] The stone states the duty was given to them to learn responsibility. He also commented about the arcane sphere and if the wildlife there has a magnetic attraction to the sphere. We also learn from Senegos he used to be the grave keeper of the Ossuary and was given the role of grave keeper to learn responsibility.[22] He also used to make arcane spheres to clean the wildlife attaching them to the sphere he made.[23] Therefore it might be the one who wrote the notes is Senagos.
