This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.
  • Gordawg = "King of the earth".
  • Gorgrond = "King Grond".
  • Vul'Gol = "Splinter Fist", given that the Splinter Fist ogres live in the Vul'Gol mound and are themselves called "Vul'Gol" in the non-canon Lands of Conflict.
    • This would potentially make vul = "fist", which would in turn make Vul'gor "fist of the king", a fitting moniker for a Highmaul Coliseum champion.
  • It is possible that the word "ogre" itself is a corruption of a word with the -gor suffix, possibly "people of the king".
  • The prefix Mok appears to be significant, given its use in toponyms (Boulder'mok, Mok'Doom, and the planned but unimplemented Mok'Gordun), personal names (Mok'Morokk and Mok'war), and the Mok'nathal.
